tone on tone

Hello friends!  Sorry that it has been a week since I posted!  It was a hot and sticky week for sure!  But the temps have been a bit better the past few days.

Besides being hot, it was a busy week as well.  We had another grad party and the contractors have started moving dirt to prepare for the garage we will be building.  In between the chaos, I have also been doing a lot of blog surfing!  We had so many talented applicants for the Stampavie Design Team call and it was very difficult for Heidi and I to narrow it down to 5!  On Tuesday I announced the new team members on the DT blog…you can check them out here.

Once again, I am in need of several thank you cards for DD to send out.  But with the busy week I’ve had, it was a must to keep them simple!  So this was a great opportunity to try the “tone on tone” technique to make a few CAS (clean and simple) cards.

I punched a kraft border to layer onto the kraft card base and the image was stamped with Baja ink onto Baja paper.  Even the flower is sorta tone on tone since I layered one white flower on top of another.  Besides using kraft paper, I felt that this technique was giving my cards a more elegant feel so I opted for a very scripty sentiment.

I had in my mind before I started that I wanted to use this image of the girl with flowers.  Isn’t she lovely?  It is an image by Penny Johnson called Penelope.

Here’s a close-up view so you can see the beautiful detail of this stamp.

Can you believe I used NO patterned papers, NO white cardstock, and NO black ink?  LOL.

Even though this card is very simple, I loved how it turned out.  I hope it shows how beautifully the Stampavie images can be used even when you choose not to color them.

I hope you have a nice, relaxing day!
