using ribbon scraps

Hello!  I have two clean & simple cards today with different ways to use up those scraps of ribbon…you know you have ’em!  lol.  Both of these cards were inspired from ones I saw in the Splitcoast gallery a few years ago.  Of course I changed things up quite a bit.

4 of our stamping gals had a birthday this month and this first card is what I made for them.  I think my favorite part is the jeweled brads in the butterfly.

This card was inspired by one done by Claire Brennan.  The butterfly is very simple…just wedge your scraps of ribbon between the prongs of the brads before inserting them through the paper.  The leaves are actually the negative of the diecut (the leaves were cut out of the white cardstock).  I originally wanted to emboss the white background but it just looked way too busy so I opted to add a few scored lines using my Scor-Pal instead.  I liked this much better!

The second card is one that I helped my friend make to give the birthday gals.  I love, love, love this embossing folder!  (my new favorite, I think!)  My friend Tracy got me hooked on it.  Funny how that happens.  *rolling eyes*

Once again, this is a great way to use up your ribbon scraps.  Just punch or diecut a shape and tape the ends of the ribbons to the backside.  Easy!
