Mer-mazing card and gift bag

Good morning! If you haven’t seen it yet, there’s a FUN new release at Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps! Today I’m sharing two projects with the adorable Mer-mazing stamp set by SNSS’s newest illustrator, Jenn Nilsson.

First, I made an acetate tent card with the sweet mermaid and sea gull. I started with a 4 1/4 x 10 1/4 piece of cardstock and scored it @ 1 3/4, 7 1/4, 8 1/4, and 9 1/4. Mountain fold all scored lines except the 8 1/4 score which is Valley folded. I die cut some waves on the top & bottom sections of the front and then a piece of clear acetate was attached to them.

I added some blingy stickers to the acetate for bubbles, the center of the flower in her hair, and even placed one for a belly button. lol.

I love to decorate gift bags but don’t do it often enough! So I thought the little mermaid would be a cute way to dress up this plain chevron bag.

I gave her some fun hair color this time and popped her up on some banner die cuts. (I even made a small dent in the eyelets still in my stash!)

Have a great day!

Paper Pumpkin calendar kit

Hello! This month’s SU! Paper Pumpkin kit is a hanging calendar. I rarely get these kits done right away but I wanted to get this one put together to start the year off. Here’s what it looks like…

I wanted to alter my calendar though. Some people are turning it into cards but I decided to keep it a calendar and just switch out the stamps used. I had fun looking for images that would fit/work for each month. Some are brand new sets and many are old…some are SU! and others are from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps. One is a Classic Pooh! Here’s what I came up with…

Have a great day!

stamps used-

SU!- Million-Dollar Moments (raindrops), Incentive stamp (duck), Sweet Summer, Kindness Matters, Watercolor Minis, Sweeter Treaters

Sweet ‘n Sassy- Crazy About Snowmen, Heart Candy, Happy Home, You’re A Star, Leaf Silhouettes, Falling Leaves, Peace on Earth

a lamp to stamp

Hello! Just popping in quick to share a fun project I made for a gift exchange last night with friends. I’ve been wanting to make this lamp for a long time but just recently got to it. I bought the fixture a year ago! lol. The hardest part was searching for a shade the right size and one that would clip onto the light bulb. Apparently they don’t make them much any more?

Here’s my stamp lamp…

I started with a mason jar and filled it with some older wood mount stamps.

Then I added a 1″ strip of fabric and a little wooden stamp slice embellishment that I’ve had in my stash for years. I don’t remember where they came from…it was so long ago! I used some Archival Black ink to stamp a tiny sentiment on it.

I didn’t take the plastic off the shade yet to protect it.

I hope this inspires you to create one of your own. I know I will be making another one for myself! 🙂

Have a great day!

Truckin’ Through the Seasons notepad tin

Quite a few years ago these tins were popular to decorate and place a Staples note pad inside. They are approx. 5×7 and I still have a stack of them in my basement…anyone else? lol. I recently needed to make a small gift and I couldn’t find what I needed for the project I had planned…so I looked around for another idea and found these tins.

I decided to create it as a Christmas notepad tin and I immediately knew I wanted to use the cute truck die! It’s the Spellbinders October 2018 Large Die of the Month- Truckin’ Through the Seasons die set. And it’s awesome! I also wanted to pair it with the buffalo plaid that is so popular right now. This one is Concord & 9th Plaid Background. The sentiment is from the Sweet ‘n Sassy Home for the Holidays set. I added some Crystal Effects to the window and embossed the trees with a Buffalo Plaid embossing folder!

Inside the tin I added a pocket on the left (which I inserted a little die to add with the gift) and above it I attached the December calendar with removable tape (so it can be switched out).

The little truck is so cute, it will be fun to use in other seasons too!

go with faith canvas

Earlier this year I made a 4″ coaster for the magnetic frame that hangs by my desk and I planned to make a few more to switch out once in a while. All the tiles I have for my frame are square or round coasters and this time I wanted to try a 4×4 canvas panel.

For my canvas, I used Go God’s Way and Life in Jesus from the new Sweet ‘n Sassy stamps July Release. I also used Go With, Texture Tiles 1, and the Girl Power Printable.

The background was done with a spritz of water added to acrylic paints. Then the words and bike were stamped with Archival Black and some texture was stamped on the grass with Archival Chartreuse. I colored with Inktense pencils and water with a brush. Normally the Inktense pencils would be permanent after wetting them but they were still workable since they were applied over acrylics so I sprayed the canvas with Krylon Workable Fixatif. Next I adhered the printed girl and covered the whole piece with decoupage glue. Some paper flowers were added last. It was fun creating on the canvas surface…I’ll be doing more of these for sure.

Have a great day!

in the morning…

Hello! Today I am sharing a project using Sweet ‘n Sassy stamps. In The Morning is from the February release. I also used Fill Me Up and the Tea & Bible Journaling Digital Set. (There’s also a coffee set if you prefer that!)

My friend, Mary Ann, made this frame a few years ago which hangs above my desk on a cork board. It has held round coasters that are decorated and changed out monthly (they are magnetic). It will also hold the square coasters in my stash (yay!) and I am planning to make a few extra to swap out occasionally. It is such a great idea! I’ve enjoyed mine.

I sponged the background with some dye-based inks and then stamped images with Versafine Black. “& Tea” was printed from a digital file, cut out, and sponged. The teacup was paper pieced. Some rhinestones and Wink of Stella were added for sparkle.

I can never show the sparkle well! It’s on the sun too.

Ghirardelli valentine treats

Hello friends and happy Monday!

Today I am on the Art Impressions blog with a project using one of the Ai Valentine sets. Here I used the 4753- In The Air Set to make some sweet little matchbook valentine treats. Do you still have to make some last minute valentines? Just a few scored lines are needed to whip these up!

I stamped the cute skunk, colored him with Copics, and die cut with Sizzix Dotted Squares. Then I stamped another image on the inside to coordinate. The pocket inside was made with some old valentine paper in my stash from My Mind’s Eye. I’ve used brads to attach the pocket before but I think I like the look of staples better. A thin strip of silver washi tape was added to the edge of the flap. A few heart enamel stickers by Recollections were added to finish it off. Just slip a Ghirardelli square inside and make someone smile. 🙂  Measurements for cutting and scoring can be found here.

I’ve never tried the Dark Chocolate Strawberry Ghirardelli before but I’d highly recommend them. 😉

baby shower (a wee bit late)

Ok, so I am a little behind in sharing these pics. I can’t believe 2 years have flown by since we had a baby shower for my daughter! It’s late, but in cleaning up my photo files, I came upon these again so here we go. And now I realize I never shared the wedding projects!

I’m sure you will figure out…we sorta had a theme. Mostly elephants & pink.  I made some of the decorations, like this sweet little cradle using a Sizzix Cradle Die, some chipboard covered with brown cardstock, lace, pearls, felt flowers, etc.

IMG_5176IMG_5177IMG_5178

I also made the banner with the baby’s name to hang at the shower. The banner flags were strung on tulle. I just hung it here for a photo.

IMG_5170IMG_5168IMG_5169

The table centerpieces were jars with peanuts and the favors were little elephant boxes filled with chocolates.

IMG_5234IMG_5171

Of course you need a cute cake! (I didn’t make that!)

IMG_5239

I tied ribbons on the handle for a silverware/plate caddy and made some simple water bottle labels.

Gifts for the princess!

It’s wonderful to look back on these photos and think about how blessed we are now with an almost 2 year old! God is so good!

Have a great day!

Silas name frame

Good morning! Here’s another project from 2015. I was asked to make a name frame for a baby gift…with a jungle theme.

It’s always fun to create a name frame. They turn out so different each time and can be personalized for most any theme! I used a whole bunch of sets here…SU! Do The Hula, Bodacious Bouquet, Array of Sunshine, Wild About You, Monkey Business, Tall Tales Alphabet, and Itty Bitty Backgrounds.

Have a great day!

throwback to 2015…

Happy *cold* Sunday! Brrr…it was -7 again this morning! I am staying warm and while I was typing on the computer, I found a bunch of photos that were never shared so I guess I will be catching up with some forgotten projects! Here’s a few and I’ll pop in with more later.

We’re going back 3 years to 2015 here…lol.  First, a card made with the SU! Lotus Blossom set. The sentiment was from a little SU! incentive stamp.

A thank you card which was a shoebox project for a stamping event that year. I love shaped cards! This one uses flowers from SU! Too Kind and a sentiment with the SU! Greetings Thinlits dies.

An ATC which was for a swap (probably at the same event). This is Art Impressions’ Sitting Lovelle and Heavenly Bodies.

A card I made with supplies at my friends’ craft store for their display. I can’t recall who makes the flower. Hero Arts??

A little paper purse, dress, and shoe gift set…I don’t remember what I put in the purse but I’m guessing there was chocolate in the dress!

And the last one for today is a card with the SU! Animal Talk set. It was inspired by a card I received for my birthday one year.

Oh, but that’s not all I found. 😉  Stay tuned…
