news from L.A.

Hello friends!  I made it!  I was so nervous about the flight but as I thought, I’m so glad I did it!  Heidi, Stuart, and Michelle are all just as nice in person (not that I’d think otherwise!)  and we already have a fun start to a great CHA.

My trip started out a bit rocky yesterday as I soon discovered after I went through the airport security that I left my cell phone in my husband’s truck!  Aaaacccckkk!  I was freaking out and about to have a heart attack.  LOL.  10 days in CA without my phone…and HOW was I going to find them when I landed in L.A.????  Thank goodness I have a wonderful husband who didn’t just drop me off & leave!  He was on the other side of security and we had a quick “conversation” with lots of hand gestering to communicate to him that I left my phone outside in the truck.  He must have been running to get it for me so quickly!

Here’s a photo for DH so he knows I actually DID look out the window!  LOL.

Today was just gorgeous and we spent a good part of it outside.  A T-shirt and jeans was a VERY welcome change from my sheepskin boots and winter coat!  It was -15 degrees in PA the day before I left!

We rented a truck this morning and went to the storage unit where all the furniture, etc. was stored from last year’s show in Anaheim.  We had to unload everything, build the crates, and load it all into the truck.  A lot of work, but fun too!  Stuart and Michelle were great drivers in the crazy LA traffic!

After the truck was loaded, we took the crates to the convention center.  Here they are hauling them in to the site of our booth.  This is all the farther we got to go.  Tomorrow we’ll go inside and start setting up.

And we are soon heading to bed after a long day.  I didn’t sleep a wink last night…too wired from the trip, I guess.  LOL.  But I kept going strong all day.  Hoping for a good night’s sleep tonight!

Thanks for popping in, I’ll try to share some more photos soon!

Hugs!

Winter 2011 CHA sneak peek

Hello everyone!  If you check out the Stampavie DT blog, you’ll see that Heidi has posted some sneak peeks of the new CHA collections.  It’s been a real treat to see her posting her lovely projects!

And now it’s the design team’s turn to share some sneak peeks too.  Each day from now until the start of CHA we will have a new sneak peek on the blog so keep checking back!  I just know you’ll love each of the new collections!  Also, don’t forget that the first day of CHA will also be the first day of our “52 Days of CHA”.  We have a lot of fresh new samples and we’re anxious to share them with you!

Today I started the DT sneak peeks with a cute Tina Wenke image.  This one is called Stitched Hearts.

How cute is that mouse and bird?!  I thought this paper would be perfect for the image.  I just loved the scissors, needles, and thread in the pattern.  I didn’t want to cover up too much of it so I kept it pretty simple.  Some stitching on the layers and a few buttons helped to tie the sewing theme of this card all together.

stamp- Tina Wenke Stitched Hearts by Stampavie; paper- Saffron, white, black, Bazzill, dp- Cosmo Cricket Material Girl; ink- Saffron, Memento Black; accessories- Copics, Rectangle Nestabilities, Sewing Machine, EK Success Daisy Chain punch, buttons, ribbon.

Have a great day!  Pop by the DT blog tomorrow…Anna Maria will have a Penny Johnson sneak!

my last CHA samples…

for this year, anyway!  Hopefully there will be more in the future.  :0)

Today is Day 33 of Stampavie’s 40 Days of CHA Samples and I am sharing the cards I made with the uber-cute Penny Johnson images!

This image is called My Little Lamb.  So sweet!  This is not the normal size I work with…it ended up being a 6×6 card.

And this one is called Bobby And Me.  I love that Stampavie came out with some more cute boy images!

CHA samples…Day 25 and it’s my birthday!

Hello friends!  Today I am sharing the Sarah Kay projects I made for CHA.  Have you seen all the new images at Stampavie?  They’re wonderful!

My first card is so clean and simple but I love it!  The main image was cut into fourths and layered to resemble a window.  The paper “valance” was scored across the top and a brad was placed at each end to resemble a rod.  This cute image is André Carrying Watermelon.

My second card is a pink, girly birthday card…how funny to share this today!  When I made up the DT CHA schedule, I didn’t realize I had scheduled myself to post on my birthday.  lol.

Here I cut a window “frame” with my Nestabilities and layered my main image underneath.  Since the Copics bleed through the paper, I also added a white lining to the entire inside of the card to finish it nicely.  Some Stickles was applied to the edge of the opening for a bit of sparkle.  This image is called Olivia With Her Kittens Kiki and Sugar…so cute!

CHA samples…Day 17

Hello!  Today is Day 17 of Stampavie’s 40 days of CHA samples.  And today I’m sharing a few projects with some of Tina Wenke’s new mice images.  So cute!  :0)

This first card is one of my favorites that I made for CHA.  Partly because I love the bright, cheery colors and also because clear cards are so fun to make!

 tw-mice-kissing-diane-zechman.jpg

At the time, I didn’t have any clear acetate that was heavy enough for the card base so I recycled an empty clear box (that once held paper flowers, I think).  The piece wasn’t quite as tall as I’d liked so that’s how I ended up with the designer papers on the bottom.  ;0)  The sentiment is from the Rachelle Anne Miller collection and fits the card perfectly, don’t you think?

Next, I decorated a little favor bag that I picked up at Target a few years ago.  Gotta love those clearance buys!  lol.  These little bags are so easy to alter.

tw-mouse-in-hammock-diane-zechman.jpg

This little mouse is making me wish for warmer days so we can hang our hammock outside again!

And last for today, here’s a sweet mouse with a sunflower.

tw-mouse-with-sunflower-diane-zechman.jpg

For this card, I started with a sketch…Mojo Monday’s #113.  Then I added some brads to each corner of the main image and wrapped a piece of linen thread around them and tied it to make a frame.  The butterfly was punched twice and layered, with the top wings folded upward.

I hope you’ve been enjoying our 40 days of Stampavie samples!  Be sure to stop by the DT blog again tomorrow!

These images are from the new Helz Cuppleditch collection.  The first one is called Celebration Table and the other two are of a new rabbit image.  Can I say “I love this bunny!”?  :0)  Her name is Loopy Lops…how fun is that?

This one is making me hungry for a cupcake!  lol.

CHA samples….Day 1!

Hello friends!  Sorry I am late posting this…there have been some blog troubles again.  (Crossing fingers.)

Today is Day 1 of the Stampavie DT’s 40 Days of CHA Samples.  And today I started us off with some fun new images by Gillian Roberts!  I love ‘em!  :0)

Here’s a cutie called “Looking At You”….

gr-looking-at-you-diane-zechman.jpg

I thought this sweet image would look great with some bright, whimsical paper.  And this Rachelle Anne Miller sentiment was just the right thing, don’t you think?

Next I made an Easel card with the “Daisy Chain” image.  It opens and is propped up by a mini calendar inside.  The flowers are buttons which I cut the shanks off so they would lay flat.

Here’s a pic of the cardfront when closed…

….and a side view when opened….
