life is tweet!

It really is, isn’t it?  Even when things aren’t looking so good, we really have a lot to be thankful for!

I’ll be feeling a bit like this kitty today, though.  I have to take a CPR class again this year and today is my lucky day.  lol.  Don’t get me wrong…I think it is a great thing to know!  I just don’t care much for being “in class”.

This bird and kitty image is from my new set being previewed today at All That Scraps.  It is called For The Birds and you can see more samples from the design team on the ATS blog.  Be sure to check them out.  I saw a sneak of two of them and they are FABULOUS!

I found this birdcage patterned paper in my Basic Grey Porcelain pack and thought it would go well.  Then I pulled some Cameo paper for the cardbase.  I still LOVE the Cameo…one of my faves!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!  (We’re halfway to the weekend!)  :0)

time for cake and challenges

I am late getting my post up today.  Last night our internet was out and this is the first chance I had today, soooo…..

Here is the card I made for today’s Dare To Get Dirty challenges over at Splitcoast.  If you are a Fan Club member, you can see all of the challenges here.  And if not, we’d love to have you join and play along!  All of the details about joining can be found here.

I used my own set, Time For Cake, available through All That Scraps and some more fun DCWV papers.  And I colored my crochet thread pink with a Copic marker before adding it to the clear button.

This card is for two challenges by StamperSharon and DeborahLynneS.  Thanks ladies!

best friends for life

Yay!  It’s almost the weekend again!  And we have had some beautiful weather….a little hot but still nice!

We received a wedding invitation in the mail a few weeks ago with this beautiful orange-y print.  I love it!  So I decided to cut up the envelope (which was lined with the same print) and use the paper to make a wedding card for the couple.  This is a great way to recycle and personalize your card.

I also used my Special Day stamp set.  (BTW…all stamps are 25% off at All That Scraps this week only)

And I used another piece of the envelope on the inside…

equivalents & substitutions

Is it a beautiful day today or what???  LOVE this weather!

The only yucky part of the day is the computer problems I’m havin’.  I hate those nasty bugs!  Hopefully I’ll be able to edit my pics soon but in the meantime, here’s a few that I haven’t shared yet.

These are my recipe and ATC swaps from the Buffalo gathering I attended 2 weeks ago.  This recipe swap was inspired by one a friend of mine had done.  I thought it was such a handy idea!

I printed everything out on vellum cardstock and used my Bumble B. Bear set.  (BTW, if you like recipe sets…I just wanted to let you know that ATS is retiring some of mine here.)

Here’s the back….I couldn’t fit it all on the front!

6x6-substitutions-back-diane-zechman.jpg

And here’s my ATC.  I stamped the old Coke image on glossy cardstock.  The background is an old Coke Ad that I printed off the internet.  Since it wasn’t on glossy paper, I attached a layer of acetate over the background ad with a glue dot.

…and here it is opened… I stamped the “memories definition” on top of the acetate.

Have a fabulous weekend!

a special day…

…in more ways than 1!

Today is the sneak preview of my new set, Special Day, at All That Scraps!  And if you scroll past my sample, I have a pic from a very special day this past weekend!  It was sooo much fun!

My sneak preview card here was actually sneaked on Saturday, a little early, at the 3rd Annual WNY Spring Fest in Buffalo, NY.  This was my shoebox project for the ladies at my tables to make.  Tracy had the best idea this year to not only hold a shoebox swap in the morning, but in the afternoon as well.  With some careful planning, she managed to seat everyone so they didn’t get the same projects twice and we came away with double the fun!

I used two of the images in the set here along with two sentiments (one was on the inside and I forgot to get a pic).

special-day-1-diane-zechman.jpg

I love the ribbon woven through the punched border…that was a trick I saw on my friend Cheryl’s blog.  Thanks, Cheryl!

You can check out the other samples made with this set on the ATS blog.  And check back each day for new sneak peeks!

And here’s another pic from our special day on Saturday.  This was taken after the day’s big event was over and after clean-up, shopping at the fab Buffalo stamp store, and our dinner out at My Tomato Pie.  We were pretty tired but look how happy we are!  I actually lifted this pic from Tracy’s blog since my pics are still unpacked, but I figure since she copied it from my camera, it’s all good.  lol!

This is only a few of the ladies who attended (there were almost 100 from NY, PA and Canada!) and I think each of us in this pic attended every year so far.

spring-fest-2010-sm.jpg

This is Melissa (Tracy’s SIL), Tracy (our fab hostess), Lisa, Michele, Cheryl, me, and Karen.  What fun ladies to spend the weekend with!  More of our friends were still inside eating…I wish I had taken more pics at the event.  sigh.  Tracy and I are wearing the cutest shirts she made for the helpers so they could easily be spotted for anyone who needed help.  She thinks of everything!

my first video tutorial!

Hello friends!  Today I am sharing another card with the “Out Of The Box With Nestabilities” technique.

This time I have a little video for you (It’s for today’s SCS tutorial).  This is my first one so please excuse the fact that it’s far from professionally done!  ha!  When Beate first asked me to make the video I think I went into a bit of panic mode…but in the end it was kinda fun.  lol.

Here’s the card I made…I used my Time For Cake stamp set.

And here’s the video…like I said, it is my first one so please check out the picture tutorial on Splitcoast as well.  A link can be found in the resources section as well as in today’s Weekly Inkling newsletter.  The Weekly Inkling is a free e-mail, so be sure to sign up for that on the SCS homepage if you haven’t already!

happy cake & presents day!

Tonight at 10 pm is the ATS March release…including my Time For Cake set.  Don’t miss it!  :0)

My eye has been drawn to a lot of cards with the kraft paper lately, so I pulled some out tonight…

time-for-cake-2-diane-zechman.jpg

I’m not completely happy with this…maybe I shoulda reversed the patterns and made a plaid cake with a flower layer?  hmmm.

And I am not crazy ’bout the inside either…but it’s glued down now and not going anywhere.  LOL.

Time For Cake!

Today at All That Scraps we are previewing my new set…Time For Cake!  :0)

This set includes a dog’s face, a slice of cake, a present, and the elephant is back…this time with a cake.  It also includes several birthday sentiments.

Here’s my first card…

time-for-cake-1-diane-zechman.jpg

This SO reminds me of Riley!  You can’t sneak a bite to eat without her running and sitting at your feet.  She smells and hears food from a dead sleep at the other end of the house!  LOL.

I needed a birthday card for a guy and so I paired the dog with some masculine papers from the DCWV Pets Stack.

And I finished the inside again today.  Here I used another one of the sentiments in the set.

I hope you like it!  Go check out the other samples on the ATS blog and enter for a chance to win this set!

happy heart day!

Happy Valentine’s Day, friends!  I hope you are having a sweet day!

Here’s some little matchbooks I made to hold a Ghirardelli chocolate inside.  The directions for these Matchbook Candy Holders can be found on SCS here.  I was inspired by some similar Valentines that my SU! demo/friend made.

I used the puppy and words from my Valentine Critters set.

puppy-ghirardelli-diane-zechman.jpg

And I also wanted to share the lollipop treats I made for some kids I work with.  Aren’t these the cutest?  Sorry for the bad photo.

No stamping here…these are just cut from sheets of craft foam.  The pattern for the lips and mustache was found on this blog.  When I printed them out for a pattern, I printed them at 150%.  She even has a download for the little tags you wrap around them.  How cool is that?  These were so easy to make!

They were a big hit with the kids too!

valentine-lollipops-diane-zechman.jpg

After I took this pic, we made more…this time there were mustaches in brown and black, and lips that were red and pink…so cute!

Enjoy your day!
