peace & joy

Good morning!

Today Sweet ‘n Sassy is featuring two new stamp sets of mine that were released this month.  Here I used my Poinsettias & Candles stamp set on this mostly monochromatic card.  Check back tomorrow for a card I made with my other new set… Holiday Hugs.

I mainly stayed in the blues with just a touch of yellow and gray.  The candles were cut out by hand and layered over a paper doily with some bits of ribbon and twine to accent.

The design team has been creating some fantastic samples with both of my new sets…check them out on the blog!

Thanks for popping in and… happy stamping!

bible journaling

Good morning, friends!  Today I am sharing my first two pages of Bible art journaling.

I have to say that I struggled at first to get started with creating art in my Bible…even though I purchased one for this specific purpose.  What if I mess up?  After all, it is the Bible.  But.. Bible journaling is not about creating beautiful artwork… it’s about focusing on the scripture and connecting with God.  Now go back and read that last sentence again…and again.  Because that’s what I needed to remind myself.  It’s ok to mess up.  Really.

Then I struggled with whether I wanted to share it online.  Again, the focus is not to be on the artwork, but the scripture.  But I am so grateful for all who DO share their pages and give us plenty of inspiration.  I may not share every page, as some may be personal.  But here goes…

I am actually sharing my second page first.  There were plenty of patriotic pages for inspiration around the 4th and I didn’t want to let July slip by without doing a flag.  Especially with all that is going on in the world right now.  I decided to journal Galatians 5:13.

Galatians 5 13 diane zechman

I only prepped the side column with clear gesso before stamping the letters / words.  The flag was traced and colored with colored pencils (I just grabbed Crayola here).  “Serve” and “love” were also colored in with pencils.

On the flag page, I used the following Sweet ‘n Sassy sets- Cold Coffee Alpha, All Your Heart, Seek Him, and You’re A Star.

For my first page, I journaled Luke 15:6.  Here I prepped the whole page.  The grass, clouds and sky were sponged with a dye-based ink.  I hand drew and cut my own cloud template from cardstock.

On this page I used these Sweet ‘n Sassy sets- Prim Blessings, Decorative Banners, Just Be, and Common Words 1,

a cheerful giver

Hello!  Today I am sharing a card on the Sweet ‘n Sassy blog using one of my newly released Digi images.  I have to say that this is one of my favorite snowmen…mostly because he is in the company of a sweet bunny who decided to share his carrot!  A snowman must have a carrot nose, right?

snowy hello digi diane zechman

One great thing about digi images is that you can make them any size you want.  I wanted to make this image big and keep it simple, with the focus staying on the gift.  As I printed it out, this verse came to mind…

2 Corinthians 9:6-7     The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

This was intended as a thank you card but I think it also conveys what we feel in our heart as we share God’s love.

If you are a fan of Digital images, go check them out in the SNSS store.  And if you’d rather work with stamps & ink… this is also available in the Snowy Hello stamp set!

Thanks for popping in…happy stamping!

I paws-itively love you

Hello!  January is flying by and my thoughts are turning to Valentine’s Day.  It will be upon us quick!

Today I am sharing a card on the Sweet ‘n Sassy blog using my Valentine Critters stamp set which also has coordinating dies.

box pleats diane zechman

This is a 4 1/4″ square card with some Box Pleats on the strip of floral patterned paper.  I started with a strip that is 1 1/2″ x 12″.

Using a Scor-Pal scoring board, I scored the strip at the following marks- 1, 1 1/2, 2 1/2, 3, 4, 4 1/2, 5 1/2, 6, 7, 7 1/2, 8 1/2, 9, 10, 10 1/2, and 11 1/2 inches.  You will fold with a mountain/valley/valley/mountain pattern to look like this:

I made this card before the matching dies were available but now I love being able to cut the images so quickly and cleanly!

coffee theme pocket letter

I recently traded pocket letters with two friends and they have received them so now I can share pics.  I made this one in a coffee theme since I had a few pieces left over from some card candy I created.

JOY

Hello!  Today I am sharing a card on the Sweet ‘n Sassy blog using my Joy to the World stamp set and coordinating dies.

JOY diane zechman

I was inspired by a beautiful card that Monika made using a ray stencil for the background and I wanted to try one too.  I stamped the word JOY directly onto the rays and then popped up the diecut “O” and the little star.

A marker was used to add stripes to the word LORD.

summer, autumn, and winter ATCs

Over the summer and fall I have made a few ATCs and as usual…I am behind on sharing pics!  They were all made for swaps with local friends.  To save time, I am just going to share them all at once!

The first two ATCs were for a summer swap with specific assigned colors.  These went together in a frame like the one I posted HERE.

This one uses the pretty SU! Butterfly Basics set…

The second summer one uses the Taylored Expressions Adventure Land set…

The Autumn ATC was also made to a specific color scheme and went into a frame.  This uses the Sweet ‘n Sassy Autumn Leaves and Falling Leaves sets.  Some leaves were stamped on the cardstock and a few were stamped on an acetate overlay.

And last is my winter ATC.  This is very CAS but I LOVE the concept.  Here I used stamps from my Sweet ‘n Sassy Snowman Soup (brrr) and Snowy Hello (snowflake) sets.

Hawaiian Chicken…yum!

Hello!  Today I am sharing one of my favorite recipes in a 6×6 format on the Sweet ‘n Sassy blog.  While you are reading this, I am spending the day stamping with good friends from NY and PA.  This recipe was scrapped for one of the swaps we are having.

6x6 Hawaiian Chicken diane zechman

I stamped the little chicken from my Get Well Critters stamp set.  I didn’t want his bandaged wing to show since I was doing a Hawaiian scene, so I gave him a tropical drink to cover it up!  😉  The drink, sun, beach ball, and palm tree are from the Wish You Were Here stamp set.  And I gave the sand a little “texture” by stamping some speckles from Grunge Elements.

The Get Well Critters Dies and Beach Dies made cutting all the pieces out a snap!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you try the recipe… and like it!

watercolor cocoa

Hello friends!  It’s time for another Challenge Chicks Challenge!

We’re a small group of friends who post a new challenge on the second Sunday of each month…no stress, no deadlines…just for fun.  And we’d love to have you join us!  This month it is Jeanne’s turn and her challenge is “Splat” – use watercolor/ink splatters!

I got out my Snowman Soup stamp set (It now has matching dies!) and wanted to create a “hot cocoa” background…boy was that a challenge!  lol.  This is my 5th try… haha.  My card was also created for yesterday’s SCS Inspiration Challenge.  I used image 7 for my inspiration.

watercolor snowman soup diane zechman

My snowy guy was colored with Copics and popped up.  I masked off the word “you” in my sentiment and replaced it with a big diecut word.  Then I stamped a few extra marshmallows to float in my chocolately background.

Please join us and create a card with watercolor/ink splatters… then share it on our Facebook page!  Also, you can upload it to the Splitcoast gallery…and use the keyword CHXSEP15.  Now be sure to click on the links below to check out what the other Chicks created!  Here’s who’s playing this month:
