Let it Snow frame

Tonight the “Gigglers” (my crafty friends) are getting together for our monthly dinner out.  Usually we celebrate the birthdays for each month but since we don’t have any Dec. birthday gals, we decided to have a Christmas gift exchange.  The gift has to be low cost and hand-made or crafty stuff.  I thought I’d make another framed piece and here’s what I came up with last night (yes, I waited till the last minute! lol).  You can click on the pic for a larger view.

I used a Sizzix snowmen die and the words are a bonus Sizzlet die that came with it.  The little tree and snowflakes are old Cuttlebug dies.  On the left snowman, I made my own pattern to give him a scarf and I added Stickles to his hat.

The snowman on the right has a few buttons and some Liquid Pearls on his hat.

We will play one of those games where you pass the gifts back and forth.  I included some chocolate and bling so I hope whoever gets mine enjoys it!

paper- Bazzill red, white, Chocolate Chip, Tangerine, Echo Park Wintertime; ink- Distress Tea Dye; accessories- Sizzix Snowmen #2 and Let it Snow #2, Cuttlebug Winter dies, Creative Memories Deco Trimmer, sewing machine, liquid pearls, Stickles, buttons, glue dots.

baby frame

This past weekend I attended a relative’s baby shower.  Along with the purchased gifts, I also made a framed 12 x 12 page that coordinated with her baby bedding.

When I found out that she was using the Trend Lab Baby Barnyard bedding, I searched online and found these pics for inspiration…Then I found a pic with fabric squares that are used in the bedding…score!  I used it to make my own patterned paper.  🙂

The papers were carefully laid out and diecut with my Big Shot Pro and the Bigz Pro Puzzle Page die.  Then I used various Paper Smooches stamp sets for all of the animals…I just think they are so cute and match pretty well to the bedding.  The barn is from an old SU! set.  I added some Judikins “straw” to the barn and popped up the cow’s nose.  The words were inspired by a scrap page title I saw…I thought they would go perfectly with the puzzle die.

I also popped up the puppy’s feet and added the animal sound words to coordinate with the sheet in the bedding.

This was a lot of fun to create and I hope it matches the room well since I haven’t actually seen the bedding in person.

Thanks for stopping in and I hope this inspires you to create some wall art of your own!

mackenzie frame

My daughter asked if I could help her make a name frame for a gift for a little girl.  We used the colors of her room and used an SU! princess to go with the theme.  My daughter colored the images with my Copics…didn’t she do good?  (Click on the photos for a larger pic).

Here’s a close up…

Hope you are having a great first week of the new year!

Ok, don’t panic…..but do you realize there’s only 13 more days till Christmas?  I don’t know about you, but I think I could use another week or two to prepare.  LOL.  I’m not making a lot of gifts this year but I have been working on a few.

I was asked to make some name frames and was given colors and themes.  Here’s what I came up with…

cute as a bug

I had a fun day today…shopping with a friend!  :0)  But before we were shopping, we met up with another friend who is expecting a baby very soon.  I missed her shower and wanted to deliver a gift.  Along with the purchased items, I wanted to make a little something handmade.

Here is what I came up with.  I wasn’t sure if it would be a boy or girl so I was hoping this would be ok either way.

I was really pleased that the Copics worked well on the frame.  Just like on fabric, they did not blend well…but there was very minimal bleeding of the color.

The tiny black background dots were made with a stamp that has a row of dots.  I just kept inking only the first dot.

And here’s a matching card to go with it…the words here and on the frame are from AmyR’s new Baby Sentiments.

And I snapped a quick pic of the inside so you can see the verse (also from Amy’s set).  I love this sentiment!

Leisel and her Wheelbarrow

Hello all!  I hope you have been enjoying your week!

I’ve been absent here the past few days as we were on vacation to Cedar Point in Ohio.  We had a great time but it’s always alot of work getting ready and then unpacking too, isn’t it?  LOL.  I am told that the roller coasters were great!  (I’ll keep my feet firmly on the ground, thank you very much!) ha ha.

So while I was gone, the previews for the GREAT new sets for August started over at All That Scraps!  I’ll start playing catch-up with this new Swiss cutie named Leisel and her Wheelbarrow.  I love her and the new Heidi stamp is awesome too!

Last week I was asked to make a baby shower gift.  The baby shower was in 3 hours!  Eeeek!  But I couldn’t say no, so my mind was thinking about what I had on hand to create.  Thankfully I had this frame tucked away to be used for a name frame, and she knew the mom was having a girl and naming her Jillian.

I immediately thought that Leisel with her wheelbarrow would look cute with the Martha Stewart Picket Fence punch to create a scene.  I was wishing I had more time though.  I would have stamped a soft background on the blue and maybe add a few tiny words.  I also would have finished the little Primas with some Stickles or Liquid Pearls.  But there was no way it would have had time for that to dry….the frame was finished 5 minutes before it went out the door!  LOL.

Here’s a close-up of Leisel:

Friends 24-7

Yesterday I lost my best friend to cancer.

I will miss her terribly.  She was also my “stamping buddy”.  And whenever I needed someone to talk to, she was the one I called.  I’ll miss that.

Please pray for her family.  I am thankful that she is no longer in pain and she is now resting comfortably “at home” with our Lord.

I typed this up last night…just before I heard the news.  I considered delaying the post, but it just seemed fitting to how I am feeling so instead I revised my text a bit.

One thing that has been on my mind a lot the past few months (since Linda found out she has cancer) is the importance of my friends.

Here’s a project I recently made while thinking of my friends.

This frame was made for Tracy, a friend who I don’t get to see often (only once a year).  When I went to the WNY SCS Spring Fest near Buffalo, NY, I helped her with a few little things and she invited me to stay with her.  So I made this for her and I hope she knows how much I appreciate her friendship!

Below are some close-ups.  You can click on each photo to see a larger view.  The frame was sanded to give a bit of a distressed look.

Sorry I don’t have much to say today.

I wish you a blessed day….please go call a friend and say “hi”.

hugs,

dry erase message frame

cupcake-messages-diane-zechman.jpgIt’s another Review Preview Friday!  Today All That Scraps is review previewing my Cupcake Occasions set.  So I thought I’d share a project I recently made.

This message center started out as a 4 x 6 photo frame from Walmart.  The glass and insert slides out from the top and can easily be changed for each season or holiday.  I stamped the turkey cupcake on a piece of cardstock and doodled a border across the bottom.  Then I stamped the word “message” along the top and added a diecut flourish.  The felt flower with a brad was attached to the outside of the glass with glue dots.  A dry erase marker is used to write a message and the ink easily wipes off of the glass when you want to remove it.  This is a very quick and easy project!

Eliza name frame

Please excuse the photo- this frame looks much better in person!  I usually have a hard time photographing a project under glass.  This name frame is for an oh-so-sweet little girl turning one.  The colors were used to match her room.

When I saw this Imaginisce giraffe, I thought it would be perfect to use.  The embossed yellow frame was cut from a piece of a 12×12 sheet of pre-embossed cardstock from Michael’s.  Then I used various SU! stamps for the letters and backgrounds.

I hope you are having a great weekend!  Did you remember to turn your clocks?

Love & Happiness frame

rub-ons-frame-diane-zechman.jpgIs there anyone else who barely touched their Love & Happiness rub ons from SU’s Sale-A-Bration?  Or am I the only one?  😉

This is a stitched denim frame that I received as a prize at a shower a few years ago.  I still hadn’t placed a photo in it so I decided to alter it a bit with some rub ons.  Now I need to find the perfect picture to put in there!

Not much else to say about it…no stamping involved.  Super simple project!

Check back on Thursday as I will have some sneak peeks for the August C.C. Designs images.  They are super cute!  🙂

Edit to add:  Christine has been super busy with moving her inventory so the new sets will not be released until Aug. 11.  Check in on the 7th for a preview!
