America the Beautiful

It’s week 4 of inspiration for this month’s challenge over on the Ribbon Carousel blog.  This month we are celebrating our heritage and showing country pride and celebrations.  What says country pride more than the patriotic song, America the Beautiful?

For my card, I printed some words from the song onto white cardstock.  Then I stamped the Sweet ‘n Sassy mountain silhouette (in purple of course!) and the lighthouse image from Landscape Silhouettes.  The panel was then sponged and spritzed with this technique.

Here’s a little close up…

Sorry I’m a little late in the day getting my post up!  Last night we lost internet and I’ve been battling a sinus infection.  boo.  Anyway, hop over to the RCC blog and play along to win a Ribbon Carousel!

sunny quilt block

It’s week 4 of Ribbon Carousel’s “Fun In The Sun” Challenge!  Every month you have a chance to win a Ribbon Carousel of your own.  Come play along!

My friend, Lou Ann, makes the sweetest “quilt block” cards and I thought that one pattern she recently used looked like a sun…so I knew what my sunny project would be for this month.  Here’s my sunny quilt block card…

The pattern for the quilt block is here, but use 1″ squares.  After she pieces them all together, she runs it through an embossing folder.  I ran mine through a SU! folder and tied some May Arts twine around the bottom.  Then it was popped up on dimensionals.  The sentiment is from Sweet ‘n Sassy.

Hope you join us!

Have a sunny day!

precious little one

The Week 4 Ribbon Carousel Crew has some inspiration on the RC Blog today.  This month’s theme is Celebrations.  There’s still time to play so be sure to check it out for a chance to win a Ribbon Carousel!

A card can be created for any type of celebration and since I needed a card for a sweet baby boy that was born, I made a baby card.

After the main image was colored and matted, I punched a slot for some ribbon to slide through.  I used the Sweet ‘n Sassy Baby’s Circus stamp set… isn’t it precious?  And the sketch for this card is from The Sweet Stop.

Hop over to the Ribbon Carousel blog and see the other cards the Crewmates created!

hello, rain cloud

Today I have my first project for the Ribbon Carousel monthly challenges.  This is week 4 of the challenge and the last chance to play along.  This month’s theme is “Showers and Flowers”.  There are 4 weeks of inspiration on the RC Blog but be sure to link your entry to the first week of the challenge.

I haven’t had a chance to play with this SU! hostess set yet, so I knew what I would grab to make my card!  I am really loving silhouettes lately and this one has such sweet images!

The umbrella was heat embossed with clear e.p. onto the designer paper, then cut out and popped up.  With a dark cardstock base, I added a white layer inside and stamped it to match.

I wish all rainy days were as cheerful as this!

stamps- SU! Million Dollar Moments; paper- Island Indigo, Pool Party, white, Sycamore Street dsp; ink- Sahara Sand, Island Indigo, Pool Party, Summer Starfruit, Versamark; accessories- clear embossing powder, SU! Cloudy Day embossing folder, ribbon, dimensionals, tracing wheel.
