hello friend

Today was my day to post on the Stampavie blog.  For my card today I decided to use a Sarah Kay image called Marguerite taking Ruben for a Walk.  I colored this image with Promarkers almost a year ago while I was at CHA and recently found it in my stash.  I love little surprises like that!  It made my card come together so quick.  Do you color images and save them for later use?  I think I should add this to my New Year’s resolutions.

The paper I used is from the K&Company Sweet Nectar pad.  I love the prints…so pretty and cheery!  I haven’t followed a sketch for a long time so it was fun to use this one I happened to see.

Thanks for visiting my blog…I hope you have a great week!

sharing the warmth

Hello!  I hope you and your family had a joyous holiday!  I have one last Christmas project to share…a Cocoa Pocket Door Hanger.  This pocket will hold 1 or 2 pouches of hot cocoa mix.

If you changed the papers and sentiment, this would be great for any occasion, all winter long.  Using the Scor-Pal, this is another quick and easy project!

Here’s a close up of the sweet Penny Johnson image…I love this bear with a mug, sitting by the window!

*Here’s a tutorial I made to show you how to make one too.  I’ll attach a JPEG here ’cause the PDF doesn’t want to upload for me.  Have fun with it!

nut gift box

10 more days… I am slowly getting ready but I still have a few gifts I’d like to make.  We’ll see if it happens.  I am enjoying the sounds of Christmas though…Christmas music is my favorite!  I wish I could say that I’m enjoying the smells of Christmas too…but so far not 1 cookie has been baked.  (must remedy this soon).

I still need to take pics of the rest of my cards (hopefully tonight).  In the meantime, here’s a little gift box of nuts I created a few months ago.  I wanted some chestnuts, or an assortment of nuts, to place in the box but at the time I needed to photograph this, our local small town store only had peanuts.  sigh.

The Laurence Design image, A Victorian Winter, was colored with Promarkers and is perfect for a gift like this… it reminds me of  The Christmas Song (one of my faves).  I can still hear my father singing this when I was a child.

The box and lid are basic box design and super easy to make with a Scor-Pal.  For the base, start with 8 1/4″ x 11 3/4″, scoring each side at 2″.  For the lid, start with 7 7/8″ x 11 1/4″.  Score each side of the lid at 1 3/4″.  Cut and assemble both pieces.  If a window is desired, die cut an opening and attach a piece of acetate before assembly.

snowy greetings

Hello!  Happy Saturday!  Today is my turn to post on the Stampavie blog and I have 2 Christmas cards to share with you using sweet Tina Wenke images and some Echo Park papers.

My first card is another Half Window card (I’ve been having fun with these lately!).  You can see my first one here

I used a portion of Sarah in the Snow with Kittie for the outside.  And the full image on the inside…

The sentiments are from Holiday Wishes and Peace on Earth.  The words “Make The Season Sparkle” were curved when placed on the acrylic block so they lined up with the curve of the cut-out window.

For my second card, I also used just a portion of an image.  Here I only used Snowy’s face (colored with a marker and stamped) and his hat from Snowy & Rudolph.  The sentiment is from Joy To The World

Enjoy your weekend!

Mummu’s bike

Last night my stamping friends and I got together to celebrate one friend’s recent retirement.  We had good food, laughter, and time to stamp together.  A fun night!  Here’s the card I made for the retiree (colored with Promarkers and Flexmarkers)…

When I first saw this sentiment in a stamp store, I knew it would be perfect for Mummu on her bike.  :0)  It just cracks me up and I hope it brings a few smiles.

Yay…it’s Friday!  Have a great start to your weekend!

let us adore Him…

Hello!  Happy Wednesday!  Wow…where did the past 2 weeks go?  I didn’t get much stamping done lately…at least what I can share now.  Hopefully the mojo, time, and energy will return soon!

Today I do have a set of 4 Christmas cards I made to share though.  I’m a little behind on my Christmas card making but I still have plenty of time, right?

I used the wonderful Away In A Manger image on these Christmas greetings.  They are accented with a little un-traditional Wisteria color… paired with a little red, yellow, and tan.  I chose a few selected areas to color (rather than the entire image) so that baby Jesus would truly be the main focus.

The following Promarkers were used to color the image: Sandstone, Buttercup, Ivory, Blush, Tan, Lavender, and Pastel Beige.

stamp: Stampavie Away In A Manger; paper- white, black, SU! Wisteria, unknown d.p.; ink- Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Wisteria; accessories- ribbon, Promarkers, adhesive pearls, Stickles.

Custom Colored Embellishments With Promarkers

Hello!  Wow…has it really been 2 weeks since I posted?  I haven’t stamped for a week or two so I hope to get back in the groove soon!  I had to shop for a new car a little unexpectedly…not what we wanted to do right now but we didn’t have much of a choice.  DH was out of town so that left it up to me.  sigh.  Hopefully this week will be back to normal!

Today I have a tutorial to share using a Stampavie stamp and Promarkers.  You can also view it on the Stampavie DT blog and the Letraset blog (be sure to poke around while there for lots of ideas and info. on Letraset products).

Have you ever started to create a project, only to find that you don’t have the exact color of embellishments needed to match your papers?  Today I will show you how you can use your Promarkers to create custom colored embellishments for all your paper crafting projects.  Promarkers can be used on many items, including adhesive pearls, gemstones, ribbon, flowers, buttons, thread, twine, dew drops, brads, eyelets, chipboard, wood, acrylic, metal pieces, and much more!

First, select the Promarkers that best match the patterned papers you are working with.  I chose Black, Apricot, Oatmeal, Bright Orange, and Ivory (not pictured).

To create custom ribbons, I used the chisel tip to color half of my piece Bright Orange and the other half Ivory.

Paper flowers are easily colored with the bullet tip.  Try making dots for a fun, fresh look.

Simply apply the markers directly onto gemstones and pearls and you instantly have the color you need.  No more running to the store when you are out of your favorite shade!  Here I colored 2 gemstones with Bright Orange and 1 pearl with Black.

Buttons are fun to color and the possibilities are endless.  Try making dots, stripes, plaids, etc.  Let your imagination run!

I used a few of the embellishments above to create this card.  The orange gemstones were placed onto the fence and the black pearl accented one of the altered flowers.  The colored ribbons border the punched fence and patterned paper.  And I colored some thread black to accent my plaid button.  The main image, Batty, was colored with Promarkers as well.

I hope you are inspired to create some custom colored embellishments of your own!

Promarkers used:  Warm Grey 3,5, Black, Apricot, Oatmeal, Ivory, Bright Orange, Soft Peach, Pear Green, Lime Green, Meadow Green, Blush, Almond, Sunkissed Pink, Burnt Sienna, Caramel, Tan, Blender.

love…

I love this stamp… love the paper… love a white on white card…

I did not love trying to edit the photo.  LOL.  Sorry it’s not the best pic!  I tried to get the shimmer on the paper to show up so the pretty pattern could be seen.

The image was stamped onto SEI White Elegance paper.  No coloring involved and it’s really beautiful in person.  A layer of vellum underneath was scored diagonally several times to create a soft, striped layer.

Enjoy your weekend!

paper bag & tag book

At a recent stamping gathering I attended, our friend who organized it put together a goodie bag for everyone.  Among the contents were some small paper bags and manilla tags to create a tag book with.  This past weekend I was inspired to use them to make a small gift and I decided that Penny Johnson’s Vintage Collection would be the perfect stamps to use.

To begin, 5 small paper bags were glued together, stacked on top of each other.  Then 2 holes were punched with a Crop-A-Dile in the side with the closed ends and fibers were added.

For the front I sponged the background layer with Distress Inks and embossed over top with a Cuttlebug folder.  Then I sponged over the raised areas again with another Distress ink.

On the layered image I sponged more ink, then used the stamp Intertwined.  I added a few dots of Stickles to the flower centers and Crystal Effects was applied to the center oval only.  You can see some crinkles underneath where the paper was previously crumpled  to distress.

Here’s the open end with the tags inserted…

All tags were first sponged with Distress Inks.  I went kinda crazy and random with the colors and placement of the inks but it worked out well in the end.

1. On the first tag I used the Chandelier stamp.  Added bling and applied some Stickles and Crystal Effects.

2. This stamp is Blossom Birds.  The leaves and flower centers were painted with Distress inks.  Added Liquid Pearls, brads, and a flower sticker.

3. Part of the Garden Shelf stamp was used here.  Crystal Effects on the vase and the eggs were painted.  The large keys on the bottom are embossed and sponged.  The small key & lock are brads.

4. Stamp used is A Stamp Of Friendship.  Leaves were painted and Stickles applied to flower centers.  A metal charm was attached with a brad over the area of the stamp that has a button image.

5. My last tag has The Scent Of Sweet Memories image.  Again, only a few parts were painted with Distress Inks.  Crystal Effects was applied to one bottle.  The lace was sewn into place with my sewing machine and I added a little bling.

I hope I’ve inspired you to create a tag book of your own…they’re so much fun!
