Spring Fest 2011

We had another fabulous weekend this year at the 4th annual Spring Fest event in Buffalo, NY!  85 stampers, old friends & new, came together for a fun day of stamping and swapping.

I haven’t had a chance yet to take a photo of my shoebox swap so I’ll share my 3D swap instead.  I don’t usually participate in the 3D swap but they are such fun to do and I decided to join in this time.  I changed my mind at least 3 times on my project and ended up altering these wooden plant stakes that I found at my local Ben Franklin store.

I lightly painted the back and sides of the wood with a light ivory acrylic paint.  When dry, I decoupaged the navy die-cut background on the front, and applied the stamped and colored image the same way.  And then I added a coat of decoupage over the top to seal it.

Here’s a close up… a button and some ribbon finished it off.

I am trying to use some of the stamps that I purchased and never saw ink.  This one was purchased at the Buffalo stamp store during a previous Spring Fest event…I think it was 2 years ago!  I used a stamp-a-ma-jig here to perfectly place her on the words.  (project recipe below)

Here are a few pics from the event.  I always wish I had taken more but tend to forget as we are busy stamping and swapping.  My friend Tracy organizes this each year (she does a fabulous job) and she has some photos on her blog of the ladies at work and the awesome prize table…check it out here

Her friend Beth made the cutest owls filled with candy that were cased from Lynn Put and Tracy’s father-in-law made wooden stands for everyone to display their card at their table….awesome favors!

I helped Tracy again to acquire enough doorprizes for everyone and here are just 2 of the ladies as they picked their prize.  These ladies chose the Promarkers…

Many, many thanks to ALL of our donors for helping to make this event a success!

Tracy also purchased a few really nice prizes to raffle off…including a Grand Calibur!

Wow…have fun with your new toy, Kelly!
