Proverbs 31

Happy Saturday! Last night I did a bit of bible journaling. I have been wanting to journal 2 verses from Proverbs 31…verses 25 and 30.  Since they fall on the same page, I combined the two.  I am prepping for my May class and with Mother’s Day approaching, I decided on these verses. They also come to mind when I think of a dear friend who passed away 8 years ago in May…I still have her picture at my desk with verse 30 beside it.

The “Poppy Girl” image is by Unity and the rest is from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps. The SNSS poppies from Precious Poppies match pretty well. I also used Shake it Off Lowercase, Skinny Lowercase, and Worthy King.

Images were stamped with Archival Black and water colored with Inktense pencils and watercolor pencils.  “She” was stamped with Distress ink- Barn Door.

Have a great weekend!

Matthew 28:6

I did a little bible journaling last night and with Easter soon upon us, I used my Sweet ‘n Sassy set called Jesus Paid It All.  I really wanted to try acrylic paints so I chose some “sunrise” colors to create my background. Many thanks to my friend Lisa at The Craft Shack for helping me out with some colors I didn’t have!  She also has a quatrefoil stencil that I used a bit on the page.

Matthew 28 6 diane zechman

Oh, and Lisa also helped me out with a few scraps of patterned paper when I decided to do a few mixed media layers on the “grass” at the bottom. I think I owe her a card! lol.

I scraped the paints on thin so the words can still be read.  Before I began this page, I had mostly planned it in my head…and I was concerned that I would mess up while stamping the solid crosses in a dark color. So my solution was to stamp them on acetate with Stazon ink and washi tape it in place as a sort of “tip in”.  It can be flipped to read the words underneath (bonus!).

Hope it inspires you to get creative!  Have a great weekend!

Matthew 11:28

Hello friends and happy Thursday!

Today I am on the Art Impressions blog with a different project than I normally make with my Ai images. I started bible journaling a year ago and I’ve had Ai’s Madge (1549) in mind all year to use for the Matthew 11:28 verse…“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew 11 28 close diane zechman

Madge is perfect for this verse…she illustrates how we all, at times, feel.  We simply need to put our trust in Him.  He gives what no one else can give- rest from our daily problems and the burden of our sins.

I stamped Madge with Stazon Black ink (no page prep done) and colored her with Prismacolor pencils, blending them with Gamsol. She was stamped again onto patterned paper and I cut out her shirt to paper piece it. I also used a small scrap of the same paper to make a little “tab” at the top of the page.

Here’s my full page… I also used used the following Sweet ‘n Sassy stamp sets.

All Your Heart, Decorative Banners, Words of Life- Common Words 1, Words of Life- Collection 1, Perfect Faith, Message of Hope.

I hope you liked this different Ai project today and it inspires you to try some bible journaling too!

Have a great day and… happy stamping!

Are you keeping warm? I am staying inside so far…doing some laundry and a little bible journaling on this cold, windy weekend.  A music video that was shown in the beginning of a recent worship service was the inspiration for today’s page.  This page was done with the song “Magnify” by We Are Messengers in mind on Psalm 119:18.

Psalm 119 18 diane zechman

I traced the detective from a Googled image and colored him with Inktense pencils.  The background was sponged with Distress inks and the words were printed with some detective-y fonts I found- Fingerprints Inside and Earwig Factory.

I used the Sweet ‘n Sassy Worthy King, Sing Loud, and Music To My Ears stamp sets.

Have a great weekend!

turn on the light

I have another art journaled page today and this one was inspired by a page I saw with similar lamps. Unfortunately I don’t know who to give credit to. It was also done with some sermon notes in mind from a guest speaker in a local church that we went to visit a week ago. I used Sweet ‘n Sassy’s Love Ya Like A Sister Alpha, Outline Alpha, and Note This.  The lamps/bulbs were drawn and the cobweb is an old PSX wood mounted stamp.

I used my Inktense pencils on this page and I’m still looking for my date stamp!

be rich in good deeds

Good morning! Just popping in with an art journaled page today.  This one I did 2 weeks ago using some of the images from my Snowy Hello stamp set.  I also used a few more Sweet ‘n Sassy Creative Worship stamp sets… Just Be, Love Ya Like a Sister Alpha, Shake it Off Lower Case Alpha, Classy Script Alpha, and The Lord is Risen.  I used watercolor pencils to color the image.

I am behind on sharing these so I will have another one tomorrow that I just finished.  Also…be sure to check out SNSS’s 30% off sale!

Luke 2 continued…

One evening last week I came home from dinner out with friends and I was wide awake and motivated to do some bible journaling.  I remembered a photo that someone shared back before Christmas which had a drawing of Linus on their page and they mentioned that Linus “knows who his real security is”. It really struck deep with me.  It seems like I’ve watched A Charlie Brown Christmas a hundred times but I never realized that he dropped his blanket while reciting the scriptures. Here’s the page that I have done.

Luke 2 cont. diane zechman

I didn’t prep my page. I started out very adamant that I wanted to prep, but about 4 pages in, I decided that I love it so much better not prepped.  I found a Peanuts font to trace the words “Fear Not”.

Here’s a video clip from You Tube of Linus explaining the true meaning of Christmas…and dropping his blanket!

Have a great day!

Luke 2

I finally got a Christmas page done for my Bible Journaling Class….if you are local and want to join us, call Lisa at The Craft Shack to sign up!  With the Christmas holiday and other conflicts, we decided to postpone our December class until January.

Luke 2 diane zechman

This was done with Stazon ink, Prismacolor pencils, and Gamsol.  No prep!  I used my Joy to the World and Poinsettias & Candles stamp sets.

And here’s another page I did in the fall…

Several SNSS stamp sets were used here… mainly I used Harvest Blessings and a couple different alphabet sets.

Thanks for popping in and… happy stamping!

a new creation

Just popping in quick to share a page of my Bible art journaling.  I really wanted to do butterflies and so I picked 2 Corinthians 5:17 to journal.  When I was looking through my SNSS stash of butterflies, I was pleasantly surprised to find a stamp with that verse…totally forgot about it!

2 Corinthians 5 17 diane zechman

My page was first prepped with clear Gesso.  The two butterflies over the words were stamped on vellum with Stazon and colored on the reverse side with Copics, then only attached to the page in the center so I can still read the words. The other stamping was with Versafine Black and watercolored.  The clouds were done with my hand drawn/cut cloud stencil.

The butterfly tab at the top was inspired by Kelly Gettelfinger and was also done with vellum.

Sweet ‘n Sassy stamps used on this page: Treasured, Majestic Monarchs and matching Dies, New Creature, and Serene Silhouettes.

I will be teaching this page later this month, so if you are local and want to join us, call The Craft Shack for more info!

bible journaling

Good morning, friends!  Today I am sharing my first two pages of Bible art journaling.

I have to say that I struggled at first to get started with creating art in my Bible…even though I purchased one for this specific purpose.  What if I mess up?  After all, it is the Bible.  But.. Bible journaling is not about creating beautiful artwork… it’s about focusing on the scripture and connecting with God.  Now go back and read that last sentence again…and again.  Because that’s what I needed to remind myself.  It’s ok to mess up.  Really.

Then I struggled with whether I wanted to share it online.  Again, the focus is not to be on the artwork, but the scripture.  But I am so grateful for all who DO share their pages and give us plenty of inspiration.  I may not share every page, as some may be personal.  But here goes…

I am actually sharing my second page first.  There were plenty of patriotic pages for inspiration around the 4th and I didn’t want to let July slip by without doing a flag.  Especially with all that is going on in the world right now.  I decided to journal Galatians 5:13.

Galatians 5 13 diane zechman

I only prepped the side column with clear gesso before stamping the letters / words.  The flag was traced and colored with colored pencils (I just grabbed Crayola here).  “Serve” and “love” were also colored in with pencils.

On the flag page, I used the following Sweet ‘n Sassy sets- Cold Coffee Alpha, All Your Heart, Seek Him, and You’re A Star.

For my first page, I journaled Luke 15:6.  Here I prepped the whole page.  The grass, clouds and sky were sponged with a dye-based ink.  I hand drew and cut my own cloud template from cardstock.

Luke 15 6 diane zechman

On this page I used these Sweet ‘n Sassy sets- Prim Blessings, Decorative Banners, Just Be, and Common Words 1,
