Isaiah 7:14

I hope you all had a blessed Christmas! Lately I’ve been wanting to jump back in to do some more bible journaling with Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps and the name Emmanuel kept coming to mind. Whether you spell it with an “I” (Hebrew) or an “E” (Greek), it means the same… “God with us”.

Here I used SNSS Joyful Alpha, Born This Day, Starry Night Stencil, and Bitty Hearts Stencil. I also used a Memory Box Star of Wonder die for the gold star. The manger was stamped and colored on white cardstock and cut out to adhere.

I started by swiping various colors of ink cubes onto a scrap strip of white cardstock. Then I stamped the letters and cut them out.

I masked a triangle to brush the blue & yellow inks and then stenciled the stars & hearts. I messed up on the yellow hearts so they’re hard to see but it’s not about the artwork, right?!

Have a great day!

tell your peeps!

Hello. I’m a week late in sharing an Easter page I journaled but I guess it’s never too late! Here I journaled John 20: 17-18.

I used Distress inks on the background and the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Rise & Shine Stencil. The words were stamped with He Is Risen and Bitty Minnie Alpha, then colored with an Inktense pencil and waterbrush. The CUTE basket, Peeps, grass, and bow are all Gina Marie Designs dies. The flowers are from the Martha Stewart Hydrangea punch.

Have a great weekend!

recent journaling

Hello! Today I have a few recent bible journaling pages to share. I don’t always share them but with all that’s going on in the world today, I really needed to dig back in and hopefully these pages will brighten your day a bit too.

34 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
    his love endures forever.
35 Cry out, “Save us, God our Savior;
gather us and deliver us from the nations,
that we may give thanks to your holy name,
    and glory in your praise.”
36 Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel,
    from everlasting to everlasting.

Then all the people said “Amen” and “Praise the Lord.”

I started this Thanksgiving page at the holiday but never got around to water-coloring it until recently. I think I was a bit intimidated! lol. It wasn’t difficult after all and was really a lot of fun. I do love some cherry pie!  I followed this tutorial by Scribbling Grace with her free printable to create the page and added a red tassel to a paperclip for a tab. I used Kuretake watercolors and the SNSS With Love Alpha.

Ezekiel 11:19

19 I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.

My Christmas page wasn’t done on a Christmas verse in the bible but rather was based on the Grinch having a change of heart and the true meaning of Christmas. Our hearts are truly transformed by the Good News of Christ’s life, death, and resurrection. And no matter who we are or what we have done, there is hope for our future.

I used the Grinch stamp set by Gina Marie Designs and hand drew his head, body, and arms. The ornament was stamped again onto white cardstock. I wrote the words on it and colored, cut & layered it on. The popcorn garland is from SNSS Deck the Halls and the sleigh/present is from Warmth of Christmas. I colored with Inktense pencils.

But, as it is written,

“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love him”

Yesterday my friend, Lou Ann, shared a memory on Facebook of me “trying to steal” her dessert at one of our giggler dinners. LOL. Our large group of friends all miss getting together for fun crafty days and our monthly dinners so much! It reminded me of this page that I’ve been wanting to do so I finally got it done. I was also inspired by Stephanie Gammon’s page and the following story that you’ve most likely heard:

I found a fork image online, turned and cropped it, and printed it onto a clear sticker sheet. All images were stamped with SU! Going Gray ink and the words with Versafine Black. The cake is from SNSS Make A Wish and the flowers are from Mason Jar Bouquet. I also sponged the gray ink with the Tim Holtz Doily Stencil. The words were done with SNSS Sunshine Girl Alpha, With Love Alpha, Teeny Alpha, and Inspirational Word Art 2. The tiny fork on the tab is from Sizzix Festive Treats dies.

Be not quick in your spirit to become angry,
for anger lodges in the heart of fools.

My last page was created because of all the negative political posts lately that are getting many of us down. I used the Art Impressions Sloth-some Set and the SNSS Marker Alpha and Art Deco Alpha. The hat and balloon on the hanging sloth were masked off. The stencil is TCW Gabrielle Pollacco Mini Moving Vines. The grass is from SNSS Happy Camper. Images were colored with Inktense pencils.

Thanks for reading this far and have a great weekend!

2020 wrap up

Hello! Popping in with a second post to wrap up 2020. Some of these are recent projects and some I just never got around to sharing.

This masculine birthday card uses SU! Best Catch and Catch of the Day Thinlits, Old Olive paper and Gina Marie Stitched Rectangle dies.

Next is a wintery card with one of the Anita Jeram kittens (Kittens and Mittens) from Colorado Craft Company. Anita Jeram is the illustrator of the children’s book, Guess How Much I Love you. Her designs are wonderful! The papers are MME- Merry Little Christmas.

The Fa la la framed art was made for a friend in our stamping group’s gift exchange. I started with a 7 Gypsies Shadow Box Tray. Dies: Spellbinders FaLaLa and Santa’s Parade (birds), Sizzix Endless Love Alpha, and Marianne Design tree- LR0136. Background paper: The Paper Studio- Silver Foiled Snowflake. The fence is a Martha Stewart Halloween punch with the bats removed and the wreath is a brad. The beaded snowflake is an old Jolee’s sticker and I added some Aleene’s True Snow around the tiny tree.

I was asked to make a name banner for a newborn baby with pink, gold, and butterflies. Here’s what I came up with. I used Momenta Banner and Alpha dies, Gina Marie Scalloped Stitched Circles, Sizzix Bold Flora dies, and an SU! Butterfly punch.

SU! Love of Leaves fall thank you card in non-traditional colors!

A bible journaling page from August in Pop Art style. The printables were created by Diane Noble.

I made a bunch of Rae Dunn style mugs but only got two finished into tags. I guess I have a good start for next year. lol. These were inspired by some I saw on the internet. I typed and printed a skinny font. The tag and mug dies are MFT. The accent images are from Sizzix Festive Treats dies.

They’re so cute on a package!

Next, I have two more fall projects. The first one is with a vintage Rubber Stampede Halloween Snoopy stamp and some old Cuttlebug dies.

And last is a CAS masculine thank you card. I used Gina Marie Chevron BKGD cutting plate, Altenew Bold Thanks, and Prima Forest Leaves.

Have a great week!

Revelation 3:11

Hello! Are you staying cool since the hot weather arrived? I took a few pictures this morning of a project I finished before heading outside. It’s been a little while since I’ve journaled in my bible and when I came across this idea to add a crown, it was just the inspiration I needed. This was inspired by pages done by Brook Terveen and Courtney Smith.

I used Brook’s template for the crown (from the Messy Bible Club Facebook group) and put my own spin on it using the following Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps products: flowers- God Is printable (from the Creative Worship Bible Journaling Facebook group), Let’s Do This, With Love Alpha, His Love, Bitty Minnie Alpha, Worthy King (Retired), Child of the King (Retired), Set Apart. I traced the crown onto gold cardstock after first trying the gold paint as directed. I preferred the cardstock better and added some gold stickers to the top. The words were stamped with Versafine Black ink and the flowers were printed and cut out from a clear sticker sheet. Then I added some accents + + + with gold paint and a Heidi Swapp stencil.

Revelation 3:11 New International Version (NIV)
I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.

The tabs on the crown hold it to the page.

It folds up flat to close!

Have an awesome day!

Isaiah 26:20

Just popping in to share a bible journaling page. Have faith and let’s get through this together!

I used the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Girl Power printable and drew my own masks onto patterned paper. The faith over fear was stamped with Walk By Faith. I also used free printables from Queen & Company and Nola Pierce Chandler. The background is a Heidi Swapp stencil and the “viruses” are diecut with SU! Poppy Moments dies.

Stay safe & have a great day!

joy, joy, joy, joy

Good morning! Did you ever start a project and then get distracted by another…and another? This page I’m sharing today was started LAST July. LOL. This very day last year to be exact! I finally colored it and sponged a background in June to finish it.

Here I used the Sweet ‘n Sassy Choose Faith, Life in Jesus, and Outline Alpha from the Creative Worship stamp sets. I also used the following sets that are now retired: Words of Life – Collection 1, Good Shepherd, and Amazing God. SNSS has many stamps sets and alphas to substitute though.

The rest I hand wrote and drew with an Illustrated Faith pen. The stencil is from The Crafter’s Workshop- Mini Swirly Garden. I colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with Gamsol.

Have a blessed day!

go. fish.

Hello friends! It’s been a while since I shared a bible journaling page! Here’s one I did a few days ago. While reading a daily devotional toward the end of June, one page was focusing on this verse. As I was reading, this image of the Art Impressions fishing buddies came to mind and I knew I wanted to use it in my bible. I also wanted the main words to be short and to the point. Here’s what I came up with.

The men in the boat, the fish, and the words on the tab are all from the Ai 4900- Reel Great Guys Set. The word “O-FISH-ALLY” is also from the set and was masked from one of the sentiments. I used the birds image (to cover up a little smudge!) from the Ai 5069- My Fortress Set. The letters for “go. fish.” were stamped with the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Love Ya Like A Sister Alpha stamps.

I masked and sponged the sun first (with a 1″ circle punched from cardstock), then the skyline. Then I sponged the bottom, changing from the yellow/orange colors to blue/green. The men & boat were stamped onto the page and again onto white cardstock. The cardstock was colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with Gamsol. Then the image was cut out (minus the fishing poles and water) and layered on top of the one on the page.

I hope you are inspired to give it a try and glorify Him with your creativity!

Have a blessed day!

John 19:28-30

Hello! Today I am sharing a bible journaling page that I did with a new stamp set from this month’s Sweet ‘n Sassy release called He is Risen. I went out of my comfort zone with this one. lol. I’ve had this pictured in my mind for months, inspired by the song At the Cross by Chris Tomlin. When I saw this new set I knew it would be perfect to use.

I envisioned what I wanted the background to look like and I was pretty sure acrylic paints would work the best so that’s the direction I went. After masking the verses, black and red were brushed on first with foam brushes. Then I added the white. After it dried, the images were stamped with Archival Black ink. The crown of thorns seemed to get a bit lost on the page and since they were such an important part, I stamped them a second time to make the crown thicker.

I really wanted the lyrics to be white letters with a colored background so I created them in Photoshop and printed them out. I’ve added them here in case you would like to print them for yourself! The other words were hand-written and the crosses drawn with a white paint pen.

I sometimes get asked how I come up with a page so I thought I’d share here the pics I saved for inspiration…

I hope I’ve inspired you to dig into God’s word and glorify Him with your creativity!

Have a blessed day!

stamps- Sweet ‘n Sassy He is Risen; paper- white, black; ink- Archival Black; accessories- acrylic paints, craft mat, foam brushes, white paint pen, SU! Key Tag punch.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Hello! I recently had a chance to do a page with some of the new stamps from the Art Impressions Bible Journaling line. They are not yet released on the website (they will be later this month) but you can watch for them at Scrapbook.com or check with your local stamp store. I was thrilled to see that Bonnie created a set for my favorite verses… Proverbs 3:5-6. It also has two other verse stamps to choose from and lots of other possibilities.

Bonnie has many video tutorials where she teaches watercoloring the Art Impressions way and bible journaling. Be sure to check them out. She uses Watercolor Ground to prep her pages but I haven’t tried that yet.  I have only tried gesso and I don’t like using that. I really don’t mind a little wrinkle and bleed-through so my method will be slightly different.

First I stamped the words and images from Ai 5131- Stone Path Set with Versafine Black ink. I chose this ink because I wanted to watercolor with my Derwent Inktense pencils. Make sure you heat set the ink! I like to mix it up and combine stamp sets you normally wouldn’t use together so I tried to think of a person or critter that I could add to the page. I decided upon this cute mouse from the Ai 4803- Mouse Slider Set. I think he looks pretty happy about the path he’s chosen.  Then I colored my page with the Inktense pencils and a waterbrush. I love that Ai includes a colored image in their packaging. It gives you a great guide or starting point for coloring!

After it was dry I stamped the grass & flowers (4051- Foliage Set and 4868- Flower Set 2), inking them with various markers. Then I lightly went over them with the waterbrush using Bonnie’s technique.

I made a coordinating tab for my page with the same grass and flowers and adhered it with Scor-Tape.

Have a great day!
