mish mash 2

Just popping in with a variety of recent projects… a banner, treats, and cards.

Our granddaughter turned one and I was long overdue in making her a name banner! I picked up the string of pompoms somewhere (Target dollar spot??) a long time ago and saved it for this purpose. All I had to do was make the letter banners and slide the pompoms to place.

I used the Altenew Bitty Bloom 3D and Bold Alphabet dies along with Momenta Banner and Intricate Nested Shapes dies. Papers used: white, gray, SU! Blushing Bride, Strawberry Slush, Raspberry Ripple, Pear Pizzazz, and MME- Heirloom papers.

I scored and folded the tops of the banners to allow for the thickness of the string. Some Scor-Tape secured them after they were placed over the string.

I also made a pile of Halloween treats, pretty much following the directions in the SU! Paper Pumpkin kit. Lots of pieces were leftover for future projects.

The layout of this card was copied from our demonstrator friend, who CASED this card by Cindy Elam. The rose gold leaves here were cut with Lawn Fawn dies and are quite pretty in person.

The last two cards were made with Stamptember sets from Simon Says Stamp. The first set is by Altenew, called Framed Friendship, and I used the same sketch that I used on a previous card.

The second Stamptember set I used is Tim Holtz’ Snarky Christmas Cats. The red plaid paper is a scrap that matches the white plaid. I simply matched it up and layered it on.

Thanks for looking! ūüôā

virtual stamping 6

Happy Saturday! I’m back with a bunch of cards for various challenges with friends. For my first one I used up some flowers leftover from a previous project. These are from¬†Altenew‚Äôs Flower Arrangement stamp set & matching dies. The sentiment is from SU! Peaceful Moments. I also used SU! Coastal Weave embossing folder and Die-Namics Stitched Basic Edges 2.

The second card uses¬†Altenew’s Build-A-Flower: Snapdragon. This was for a sketch and favorite flower challenges. I’m not sure I really have a favorite flower but I do have fond memories of my grandmother’s snapdragons in her flower beds. I still can’t resist squeezing them!

I combined 4 different challenges for the next one…monochromatic, a sketch, using retired colors (I chose Baroque Burgundy), and using gingham. The flowers are from SU! Bloom With Hope.

The front of this card was for a sketch challenge and the inside was a special fold. The butterflies are SU! Butterfly Gala and the Butterfly Duet punch.

¬†We were challenged to CASE a card by Jane Daniels from the UK. I loved her use of diamonds! Here’s my slightly different layout/colors/sentiment using SU! Positive Thoughts and the Birch Press Sending Sugar Script die.

Another special fold…this time using SU! Free As A Bird and Botanical Gardens dsp. I also used Sizzix Bold Flora dies.

The next two cards are for a challenge to pull out those old wheels. I chose the SU! Neighborhood Wheel. The sentiments are from a Taylored Expressions printable.

How long has it been since we did punch art? I found these two pieces in my stash from quite a while ago. The first was for punch art and sketch challenges. Remember Care Bears?

The second was for punch art and woven strips challenges. The sentiment is an old wood block by Amuse.

A friend said to dig out an old set…so I dug out SU! 2004 Rhyme Time and paired it with a Darice Numbers embossing folder.

The last card was for another sketch and also using wheels. This time I used the SU! Making Tracks wheel. The motorcycle is from SU! 2003 Born to Ride.

That’s it for this time…Have a great day!

virtual stamping 4

Hello! I’m back with more cards that I‚Äôve recently made while ‚Äúvirtual stamping‚ÄĚ with friends and playing along with challenges. My first card was for a challenge to make a split card. I used Altenew’s Flower Arrangement stamp set & matching dies. Altenew makes such pretty flowers!

Here’s a pic of how I placed the flowers on a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 piece of cardstock. I didn’t draw a line down the center with a pencil per directions…I just lightly scored a line. After they’re glued down, you cut the piece in half and trim the edges to create two cards.

Colors used: SU! Petal Pink, Flirty Flamingo, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Pink Pirouette, Regal Rose, Melon Mambo, Certainly Celery, Wild Wasabi, and Garden Green.

My next card was for a challenge to make a Tall Z-Fold card. I used the retired SU! Simply Soft set, along with Touches of Texture (bee) and Peaceful Moments. The border was punched with a Martha Stewart Edge punch.

Colors: Distress Picked Raspberry and SU! Daffodil Delight.

Here’s one for a Four Fold card challenge. Again I used¬†Touches of Texture and Peaceful Moments.

Colors used: SU! Vintage Violet, Cool Caribbean, Smoky Slate, and Sweet Sugarplum.

This next one was for Offset Triple Stamping. I used SU! Positive Thoughts and the Scripty embossing folder.

For a challenge to use a new purchase, I used my May Paper Pumpkin kit (mine arrived late as the first box was lost in the mail!). I made an acetate tent card. They are a lot of fun!

The next few cards were created with a new¬†Sweet ‚Äėn Sassy Stamps set called Peace Be Still. This is a great masculine set! I paired it with papers by The Paper Studio- The Pink Navy. This one was for a sketch challenge.

I got out the old craft knife to cut inside the rope.

Another one for a sketch challenge and also uses Peace Be Still.

Two more cards I made with¬†Peace Be Still were made with layered ovals. I have no idea where this design originated but here’s a video with circles to show you how. I’ve seen it done with various shapes and they all look cool!

Cardstock colors: SU! Lemon Lime Twist, Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay.

I combined two challenges, to make a collar card and a patriotic one, and used the Paper Smooches Circle of Honor stamp set. There’s an epoxy star sticker inside the large star. It’s so sad to hear that Kim is retiring Paper Smooches! But I wish her the best in her new endeavors!

Here’s another masculine card for a sketch challenge. I used¬†Sweet ‚Äėn Sassy Stamps Time Well Spent,¬† Gear Up and Texture Tiles 2. Cardstock is Bordering Blue and Mossy Meadow.

My last card for today is for a Double Pleated Card challenge. I used Begin Again  and Encouraging Thoughts.

I’ve found a few more cards that I didn’t photograph yet so I’ll save those for next time! Have a great day and stay safe!

virtual stamping 2

Hello! Since we can’t get together, I’ve been stamping some more “virtually” with my friends and playing along with challenges. It has been a great way to think about something other than the news and bonus…I’ve mailed quite a few cards!

First I used the Altenew Birds of a Feather and matching dies to create a few cards for a washi tape challenge.

I applied strips of washi tape to white cardstock and then die cut the birds. I found it helpful to first loosely trace the die so I knew exactly where I needed the washi. Now I’m thinking of other shapes to die cut!

The white panels were cut with Gina Marie Scalloped Stitched Rectangles. Card bases are SU! Sweet Sugarplum and Melon Mambo.

This card was for a food & drink challenge. I spied this bowl of cherries in the long retired SU! Giggle Greetings. The Pawsitively Prints dsp is also long retired. I used Die-Namics Stitched Scallop Edges and C.C. Designs Cherry dies.

For a watercolor challenge I did a wash on the watercolor paper panel, then painted the watercolor over a Gina Marie Slanted Bricks stencil. Flowers from Concord & 9th (Beautiful Branches) were stamped over top and then I went over them with a waterbrush. Cardstock is Island Indigo, Lemon Lime Twist, and a brown.

Next I made this card for a challenge to use doilies. I also used a piece of floral fabric I received from a friend. It was applied to sticky-back paper first for ease in cutting it out. The sentiment is from the Sweet ‘n Sassy Encouraging Thoughts free printable.

I used the SU! Grace’s Garden bundle here along with colors from a challenge to make this garden gate card. The embossing folder is Darice Brick Wall.

The inside…

And matching envelope…

Next I made this for a challenge to use umbrellas/rainbows. The SU! Under My Umbrella and matching punch is so cute! I didn’t get the matching paper so I used Echo Park’s Sunny Days Ahead.

The inside…

Yesterday I got sidetracked when I was looking for something and found my Pigpen stamp! I thought he‚Äôd go great with a sentiment I had printed out for another “Coronavirus Card”.

I used my old (2001!) Pigpen stamp by Stampabilities, a sentiment from a Taylored Expressions free printable, Gina Marie Wonky Stitched Squares, and Die-Namics Blueprints 20.

I also made a CAS princess card yesterday for a crown/royalty challenge. I used Echo Park Princess Set #1 dies and the acrylic block background technique. The scalloped panel was cut with Die-Namics Blueprints 20.

I’m sure there will be more virtual stamping in the near future while we are all staying put! Have a good day!

birthdays and carrots

Hello! Today is another catch up day. These cards were all made at different times last year. The first one was obviously for a 50th birthday party. I used the Altenew Build-A-Flower Chrysanthemum & matching dies. Her favorite colors are royal blue and light blue so I went with that and added the “50” in silver. The background is Crafter’s Companion Eternal Elegance Cut & Emboss folder. The number dies are retired from Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps.

Ink colors used: SU! Soft Sky, Bashful Blue, Pacific Point, Brilliant Blue, Certainly Celery, Pear Pizzazz, Garden Green.

Next is an acetate tent card that I made with the Spellbinders Party Kids die. Love those Spellbinders silhouette dies! You’ll be seeing more cards with those. I also used the SNSS Birthday Greetings and Lawn Fawn’s Puffy Cloud Borders dies. The clouds are by Whimsy Stamps.

Since you can’t open the card to sign the inside, I put the sentiment on the back and left space to write a message there. The punch is SU! Decorative Label.

When we visit Rhode Island, we like to stay at a bed & breakfast. The owner there has the largest carrot collection in the world! Last year when we stayed there, she was so kind to give me a rubber stamp from her collection…the sweet carrot I’ve used here to make her a set of monogrammed notecards. (She also does stained glass and I have a perfect stamp set for that…next time!)

The carrot is an old wood mount stamp by Hooks, Lines & Inkers. The alpha letter is SNSS’s Sunshine Girl Alpha.

The last card today is a beautiful swan die from a Spellbinders card kit- Golden Swan. I love it! The paper on the bottom is also from the kit and the sentiment is from SNSS Birthday Greetings.

 Happy Friday!

Altenew July Challenge

Hello! My card today is for the Altenew July Inspiration Challenge. I needed a birthday card early last week for a special stamping friend and I wanted to use some of the Altenew stamps I purchased. Love their flowers!

I decided to use the pretty Build-A-Flower Cattleya & matching Dies. I also used the fun Watercolor Stripes Cover Die.

Have a great day!

stamps- Altenew Build-A-Flower Cattleya; paper- white, SU! Crumb Cake; ink- Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Petal Pink, Grapefruit Grove, Calypso Coral, Pink Pirouette, Pixie Pink, Melon Mambo, Certainly Celery, Pear Pizzazz, Mossy Meadow; accessories- MISTI, Altenew Watercolor Stripes Cover Die, Gina Marie Sequins, Stickles.

simple thanks

Hello! Here’s a CAS card when you need something simple, quick, or easily reproducible. I wanted to make a stack of thank you cards and these came together pretty quickly.

I already had the card bases embossed…I found a pile I did years ago with an old Cuttlebug embossing folder¬†but never used. The flower is from Altenew’s Peony Bouquet and the words are from Sweet ‘n Sassy’s So Thankful set. There’s about 6 stampings on each flower but when set up on a MISTI, it goes pretty slick!

Thanks for popping in! Have a great day!

stamps- Altenew’s Peony Bouquet and Sweet ‘n Sassy’s So Thankful;¬†paper- white; ink- Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Soft Sky, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Certainly Celery, and Pear Pizzazz; accessories- Cuttlebug Bow Frame embossing folder, SU! Bitty Butterfly punch, adhesive pearl, Wink of Stella.

bright & cheery

Good morning! Today I am playing catch up. I have several cards I didn’t get around to sharing from 2018.¬†Some I will post later but here’s a quick share of a few with¬†a bit of info on each.

My first card uses the beautiful Altenew Layered Rose die that was a free sample in a Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine a while back. The thanks die is by Echo Park and the Wonky Stitched Ovals die is by Gina Marie. The colors of cardstock I used are black, SU! Coastal Cabana, Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo, Raspberry Ripple, Pear Pizzazz, and Mossy Meadow.

My next card uses the SU! Bird Banter stamp set and the sentiment is from Altenew’s Label Love. The Paper Studio’s Poteeka Birds embossing folder goes great with this set and I love it in the Lemon Lime Twist cardstock. A little black branch was added from the SU! Petals & More Thinlits.

This fun flamingo one is a CASE of a card by Amy Koenders using the SU! Fabulous Flamingo set…love it! It uses Flirty Flamingo ink and cardstock of course!

Here’s another card with the Flirty Flamingo ink and cardstock, along with some gold paper and a gold strip of washi tape. This could be for any occasion but it was a congratulations on¬†an engagement card. Stamps are from the SU! July 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit- What a Gem.

The butterfly card was inspired by the talented Kittie Caracciolo. I used SU!’s Watercolor Wings stamp set and Bold Butterfly Framelits. The dies are Simon Says Stamp’s Stitched Circles and Spellbinders Picot Edge Circles. I also used the Martha Stewart Frond and Hydrangea punches. The butterfly was stamped with Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, and Real Red inks.

My daughter was attending a wedding of some motorcycle enthusiasts and asked me to make her a card. This was a clip art image I found online and I just added a simple stamped sentiment.

And my last card is a CAS sympathy card…not a bright¬†card this time but rather done in softer colors. I used a Park Lane Tree embossing folder and Martha Stewart Royal Butterfly punch. The sentiment is from SU! Love & Sympathy.

Thanks for popping in….have a great day!

6×6 German Apple Puff Pancakes

Back in the beginning of October I filled in to teach a class on making a 6×6 recipe card. Over the summer we stayed at a B&B in Amish country and were treated to some delicious breakfasts. One was some peach puff pancakes. The B&Bs in the area put out a few¬†cookbooks and I purchased the current one. It didn’t have the peach version but this delicious apple one with craisins and pecans. We love it!

I¬†decided to use the cute apple paper but didn’t want to cover it all up so I made a triangular pocket with it to tuck the recipe inside. I stamped the Concord & 9th plaid background with black ink onto red cardstock and die cut the letters with Altenew’s Bold Alphabet. I also used a tiny apple die from my stash to cut from the plaid. To finish it off, I added the cute SNSS An Apple For Cocoa digital image and a few black enamel dots.

Have a great day!

happy thoughts

Good morning! I needed a few thank you cards recently using specific company products and I realized I forgot to photograph one or two before sending them off. Ugh. Here’s a few I came up with though. The first uses the MISTI with Altenew’s Beautiful Day stamp set. Love that flower and the MISTI makes it easy! I added a few Nuvo drops under the sentiment.

The second one uses a sweet pup from Paper Smooches’ Woofers and Tweeters. Her muzzle was stamped a second time and popped with foam tape.¬†The sentiment is from Slang Gang. Gotta love it!¬† Both cards have an embossed background with the Darice Plaid embossing folder.
