peony with love

Hello! Today I am sharing another card using some new Sweet ‘n Sassy stamps from this month’s release. Here I used the May Stamp of the Month: Peony Cluster…such a pretty set!

I stamped the flowers tone on tone with some pink ink and paper for the background. Then I stamped the flowers again with black on white cardstock for a striking border layer. Then one flower in the image was colored and cut from a third stamping to add as a focal image. I also cut the card base a bit narrower to a 4″ width to allow the leaves to hang off the edge on the left. This way, it will still fit an A2 envelope!

Head to the Sweet ‘n Sassy store to find all sorts of great images and if you spend $75, you’ll get this beautiful set for FREE! 🙂

Have a great day!

paw-some pals

Good morning! Today I am sharing two cards using some new Sweet ‘n Sassy stamps from this month’s release. Here I used Paw-some Pals. There’s seven cats and dogs in this set to choose from! I picked three for my first card and stacked them up!

For my second card I thought it would be fun to paper piece them. I don’t think I can pick a favorite. lol. I added the bow to one for a bow tie and added the bone to the sentiment.

Have a great day!

I made two cards to share using the new sets Freedom in Christ and Paw-some Pals. I also used two previous sets with awesome sentiments, Scripty Thoughts and Be Encouraged 2. My first card combines the two new sets. Is it coincidence that there’s a cat and a birdcage in the same release? I think not. lol.

I used a paint chip to stamp the birdcage on for my second card and paired it with an encouraging sentiment.

Now go check out Jane’s blog!

Thanks for hopping with me! Have a great day!

watercolor peonies

Hello! I recently tried the No-Line Watercoloring technique and took a few pics along the way. I used the pretty Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamp of the Month set, Peony Cluster.

Let me first say… I quickly realized that I need a LOT of practice. And patience. LOL. BUT…it was fun! I still think it turned out to be a pretty card. Thankfully I wasn’t going for realistic colors or perfection. 😉

I started with a piece of this >> watercolor paper. I have to say that I really liked the thinner watercolor paper to layer onto a card. I was going lighter with the water but I also liked that I had no issues with pilling. I definitely want to try it some more! I first used two colors of ink smooshed on an acrylic block and a waterbrush to apply a light wash of color to the background. (Tape it down first to avoid warping).

Next I stamped the image with Distress Antique Linen. It was a bit darker than I think it should have been so next time I’ll try stamping it off once first.

The piece was taped back down and I decided to start with the leaves. Oh my…I quickly lost patience and kind-of just did my own thing on them. LOL.

When I started with the flowers, I went back and forth between two so that they would have drying time. As I moved on to the other two, though, I was able to color each flower separate. Remember to work on sections that are not touching and then come back to the adjacent sections when it’s dry.

After I finished the flowers, I added some green around them and blended it to fade out. Then I used all 4 flower colors to flick some speckles with the brush.

I die cut the panel and added a sentiment.

Have a great day!

pawprints on your heart

Last month I needed some pet sympathy cards. I still think sympathy cards are the toughest…they need to be just right, you know? Here’s two CAS cards that I came up with.

I love that the Sweet ‘n Sassy Puppy Love and Kitty Love sets have several images to choose from. So many breeds and personalities to fit the need!

I started with a Park Lane Tree embossing folder. Then I sponged some blue sky, fading it out, and some green for grass. After stamping the dogs, I added some grass from the Through The Trees stamp set.

Thanks for looking!

happy couple

Good morning! Today I am sharing two cards using some new Sweet ‘n Sassy stamps from this month’s release. Here I used Happy Couple, Marriage Scripture, and the lovely stamp of the month, Peony Cluster.

The layered strip on my first card is a piece of cardstock I found in my stash that I had done the melted crayon technique on almost 20 years ago. I really need to clean out my supplies! lol. Basically, I just placed some crayon shavings (metallic crayons used here) onto my cardstock, sandwiched it between two pieces of wax paper and ironed it. I can’t remember if I used regular or glossy cardstock on this piece…experiment! (I did find a quick video for this technique here).

On the inside, I used stamps from both of the wedding themed sets and kept it a classy black & white.

For my second card, I used the pretty peonies from this month’s free set to help create the background. They were stamped with Versamark ink to keep them “softer”. The cake was popped up with dimensionals.

Have a great day!

oh happy day

Hello! Today I have two CAS cards to share using the Sweet ‘n Sassy Happy Day and Spring Blossoms stamp sets.

I used two strips of washi tape on my first card and layered my flowers overtop.

For the second card, I kept it monochromatic with kraft and black. Super simple!

Have a great day!

inspired by…

Hi! I’m playing catch-up again today and sharing some cards I made that were inspired by others. Occasionally I will semi-case a card and I like to give credit where it’s due!

My first one is a bridal shower card using SU! Wonderful Moments and inspired by this card by Sissy Hooper. I loved the design but switched out the background for the SU! Country Floral embossing folder. I used a shimmery white cardstock and the side was die cut with the Detailed Floral Thinlits. The cardstock circle behind the sentiment is Blush Blossom.

Next is a card using SU! Home to Roost. I liked the simple coloring on the chicken in my friend Heidi’s second card in this post. I also used some Recollections flowers and wood grain paper.

I happened across two pretty cards by Chris Smith using the SU! Wishing You Well stamp set and they also inspired me. The first one by this card on her blog. I used a quilted embossing folder by We R Memory Keepers and the MFT Stitched Scallop Edges dies.

For my second one I used two different papers & color schemes. They were inspired by her card here. I used The Paper Studio- Ice Cream Parlor and love Nicole- Bouquet of Color papers. The tiny flowers are Impression Obsession 140-D die.

And my last “inspired by” card today is one that I remember from quite some time ago but have no idea where it originated. An awning is created with a punch or die to create a window. Here I used a die from Sizzix Ornate Labels. The cupcake is a Paper Smooches die. (SO cute!)

Have a great day!

simple thanks

Hello! Here’s a CAS card when you need something simple, quick, or easily reproducible. I wanted to make a stack of thank you cards and these came together pretty quickly.

I already had the card bases embossed…I found a pile I did years ago with an old Cuttlebug embossing folder but never used. The flower is from Altenew’s Peony Bouquet and the words are from Sweet ‘n Sassy’s So Thankful set. There’s about 6 stampings on each flower but when set up on a MISTI, it goes pretty slick!

Thanks for popping in! Have a great day!

stamps- Altenew’s Peony Bouquet and Sweet ‘n Sassy’s So Thankful; paper- white; ink- Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Soft Sky, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Certainly Celery, and Pear Pizzazz; accessories- Cuttlebug Bow Frame embossing folder, SU! Bitty Butterfly punch, adhesive pearl, Wink of Stella.

Blue Poppies

Earlier this month I pulled out the Sweet ‘n Sassy Poppies & Greetings stamp set. It’s an older set but not one to be forgotten. I decided to give it a fresh look and color the flowers something other than red. They could be a different type of flower, right? I chose blue. So pretty!

While typing this post, I actually did a search for poppies to see what varieties there are and found… Himalayan Blue Poppies! Who knew?

Have a great day!
