dearest friend

I’m sharing two more cards today featuring the Dearest Friend set by Creative Worship Stamps (Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps). Two cards…two different ways to add color. Do you prefer to color your images in or stamp them without coloring?

On the first card, I also used Itty Bitty Blossoms (butterfly) and the Stitched Rectangle Dies. I did a quick wash of color onto a piece of watercolor paper, then stamped the flowers with black when it was dry.

For my second card, I colored with alcohol markers and fussy cut the single flower and leaf images from Dearest Friend. I also used Teeny Alpha to stamp the recipient’s name. The background was left over from this project. I couldn’t bear to toss it! The panel isn’t raised here but the acetate underneath gives a nice shine. The corner pieces are from a really old corner punch, but they were just what I needed to fill in the empty spaces. I love using the alphas for personalization…they’re not only useful for bible journaling!

Have a great day!

pine branch

I’m plugging away at my Christmas cards and today I’m sharing one using new products from the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps November release.

Products used: Pine Branch Layering Stencil Set, Stitched Rectangle Die Set, and Holiday Cheer Stamp & Die Bundle (sentiment).

Just like my card last week, I applied some Distress inks to a piece of watercolor paper for the background. Then I brushed green and brown inks over it with the pine branch stencils. It was cut out using the largest rectangle die which is double stitched with a scalloped edge. I layered it onto a green card base this time, but the scalloped rectangle is large enough to be used for a shaped card so watch for one coming soon! 🙂 My sentiment was popped up and I added a few sequins for sparkle.

Have a great Monday!

giving thanks

Good morning! Today I am featuring another one of the new coordinating die sets from this month’s Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps release, Give Thanks Dies. This stamp set is a previously released one so you may purchase the dies separately, if you have the stamps, or both together in a bundle. I also used Falling Leaves (the September Product of the Month) and Cheerful Hexies.

Product links: Give Thanks Dies, Give Thanks Bundle, Falling Leaves, Cheerful Hexies.

I started today’s cards by making a fall card without autumn colors. I really liked the blue falling leaves background that I stamped and decided to “paint” the die cut leaves with other fun colors too. Various inks were dabbed onto my table (it’s an old table!) one at a time and spritzed with water. Then I picked the inks up by smooshing a piece of watercolor paper onto them. Let it dry between colors. When completely dry, I stamped and die cut the leaves.

I had a few leftover leaves that I saved and wasn’t sure what I would do with them…until I needed an anniversary card! Here I Die cut a square from the white panel, then embossed the square in a woodgrain embossing folder. I then stamped yellow leaves onto the white panel and popped it up onto a card front with foam tape. The embossed square was glued back into place and two leftover die cut leaves were popped up on top.

I have a third card today…for this one I created a background by stamping the Cheerful Hexies first, then the leaves over top with black ink. The photo makes it look a bit busy, but it looks really cool in person!

Be sure to check back tomorrow as SNSS will feature other new products for the second half of the month. 😉

Here I used the Wildflowers 2 Die and Encouraging Thoughts. to make a mini slimline card. I die cut 3 of the flowers with watercolor paper and used a water brush with my inkpads to color them. The sentiment was heat embossed.

I also used the Wildflowers 2 Die on my second card, along with the Stamp of the Month, Script Sentiments, and Delightfully Delicate Background. I die cut a large circle from an A2 size piece of cardstock to create a mask and stamped the background over it.

going postal

Hello! I am just popping in with a card using the new Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps sets called Happy Mail and Going Postal. I knew when I first saw the postal set that I wanted to do a collage. There’s no rhyme or reason, no right or wrong way…it’s just fun to stamp images randomly and see how it comes out. I started with a light watercolor background and stamped over it when dry.

Have a good night!

recent journaling

Hello! Today I have a few recent bible journaling pages to share. I don’t always share them but with all that’s going on in the world today, I really needed to dig back in and hopefully these pages will brighten your day a bit too.

34 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
    his love endures forever.
35 Cry out, “Save us, God our Savior;
gather us and deliver us from the nations,
that we may give thanks to your holy name,
    and glory in your praise.”
36 Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel,
    from everlasting to everlasting.

Then all the people said “Amen” and “Praise the Lord.”

I started this Thanksgiving page at the holiday but never got around to water-coloring it until recently. I think I was a bit intimidated! lol. It wasn’t difficult after all and was really a lot of fun. I do love some cherry pie!  I followed this tutorial by Scribbling Grace with her free printable to create the page and added a red tassel to a paperclip for a tab. I used Kuretake watercolors and the SNSS With Love Alpha.

Ezekiel 11:19

19 I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.

My Christmas page wasn’t done on a Christmas verse in the bible but rather was based on the Grinch having a change of heart and the true meaning of Christmas. Our hearts are truly transformed by the Good News of Christ’s life, death, and resurrection. And no matter who we are or what we have done, there is hope for our future.

I used the Grinch stamp set by Gina Marie Designs and hand drew his head, body, and arms. The ornament was stamped again onto white cardstock. I wrote the words on it and colored, cut & layered it on. The popcorn garland is from SNSS Deck the Halls and the sleigh/present is from Warmth of Christmas. I colored with Inktense pencils.

But, as it is written,

“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love him”

Yesterday my friend, Lou Ann, shared a memory on Facebook of me “trying to steal” her dessert at one of our giggler dinners. LOL. Our large group of friends all miss getting together for fun crafty days and our monthly dinners so much! It reminded me of this page that I’ve been wanting to do so I finally got it done. I was also inspired by Stephanie Gammon’s page and the following story that you’ve most likely heard:

I found a fork image online, turned and cropped it, and printed it onto a clear sticker sheet. All images were stamped with SU! Going Gray ink and the words with Versafine Black. The cake is from SNSS Make A Wish and the flowers are from Mason Jar Bouquet. I also sponged the gray ink with the Tim Holtz Doily Stencil. The words were done with SNSS Sunshine Girl Alpha, With Love Alpha, Teeny Alpha, and Inspirational Word Art 2. The tiny fork on the tab is from Sizzix Festive Treats dies.

Be not quick in your spirit to become angry,
for anger lodges in the heart of fools.

My last page was created because of all the negative political posts lately that are getting many of us down. I used the Art Impressions Sloth-some Set and the SNSS Marker Alpha and Art Deco Alpha. The hat and balloon on the hanging sloth were masked off. The stencil is TCW Gabrielle Pollacco Mini Moving Vines. The grass is from SNSS Happy Camper. Images were colored with Inktense pencils.

Thanks for reading this far and have a great weekend!

virtual stamping 2

Hello! Since we can’t get together, I’ve been stamping some more “virtually” with my friends and playing along with challenges. It has been a great way to think about something other than the news and bonus…I’ve mailed quite a few cards!

First I used the Altenew Birds of a Feather and matching dies to create a few cards for a washi tape challenge.

I applied strips of washi tape to white cardstock and then die cut the birds. I found it helpful to first loosely trace the die so I knew exactly where I needed the washi. Now I’m thinking of other shapes to die cut!

The white panels were cut with Gina Marie Scalloped Stitched Rectangles. Card bases are SU! Sweet Sugarplum and Melon Mambo.

This card was for a food & drink challenge. I spied this bowl of cherries in the long retired SU! Giggle Greetings. The Pawsitively Prints dsp is also long retired. I used Die-Namics Stitched Scallop Edges and C.C. Designs Cherry dies.

For a watercolor challenge I did a wash on the watercolor paper panel, then painted the watercolor over a Gina Marie Slanted Bricks stencil. Flowers from Concord & 9th (Beautiful Branches) were stamped over top and then I went over them with a waterbrush. Cardstock is Island Indigo, Lemon Lime Twist, and a brown.

Next I made this card for a challenge to use doilies. I also used a piece of floral fabric I received from a friend. It was applied to sticky-back paper first for ease in cutting it out. The sentiment is from the Sweet ‘n Sassy Encouraging Thoughts free printable.

I used the SU! Grace’s Garden bundle here along with colors from a challenge to make this garden gate card. The embossing folder is Darice Brick Wall.

And matching envelope…

Next I made this for a challenge to use umbrellas/rainbows. The SU! Under My Umbrella and matching punch is so cute! I didn’t get the matching paper so I used Echo Park’s Sunny Days Ahead.

The inside…

Yesterday I got sidetracked when I was looking for something and found my Pigpen stamp! I thought he’d go great with a sentiment I had printed out for another “Coronavirus Card”.

I used my old (2001!) Pigpen stamp by Stampabilities, a sentiment from a Taylored Expressions free printable, Gina Marie Wonky Stitched Squares, and Die-Namics Blueprints 20.

I also made a CAS princess card yesterday for a crown/royalty challenge. I used Echo Park Princess Set #1 dies and the acrylic block background technique. The scalloped panel was cut with Die-Namics Blueprints 20.

I’m sure there will be more virtual stamping in the near future while we are all staying put! Have a good day!

Autumn Splendor

Good morning! Today I have a sneak peek of the fun new release coming soon at Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps! This month’s release will be on October 7.

This stamp set is called Autumn Splendor and is perfect for your fall cards! I stamped the leaves on this watercolor paper and then spritzed with water.

Have a great day and on Monday check out all the new stamps in this month’s release!

stamps- Sweet ‘n Sassy Autumn Splendor; paper- Northwoods watercolor paper, SU! Cajun Craze; ink- Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Tangelo Twist, Hello Honey, Watermelon Wonder, Soft Suede, Cajun Craze; accessories- MISTI, Stickles, foam dimensionals.

watercolor peonies

Hello! I recently tried the No-Line Watercoloring technique and took a few pics along the way. I used the pretty Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamp of the Month set, Peony Cluster.

Let me first say… I quickly realized that I need a LOT of practice. And patience. LOL. BUT…it was fun! I still think it turned out to be a pretty card. Thankfully I wasn’t going for realistic colors or perfection. 😉

I started with a piece of this >> watercolor paper. I have to say that I really liked the thinner watercolor paper to layer onto a card. I was going lighter with the water but I also liked that I had no issues with pilling. I definitely want to try it some more! I first used two colors of ink smooshed on an acrylic block and a waterbrush to apply a light wash of color to the background. (Tape it down first to avoid warping).

Next I stamped the image with Distress Antique Linen. It was a bit darker than I think it should have been so next time I’ll try stamping it off once first.

The piece was taped back down and I decided to start with the leaves. Oh my…I quickly lost patience and kind-of just did my own thing on them. LOL.

When I started with the flowers, I went back and forth between two so that they would have drying time. As I moved on to the other two, though, I was able to color each flower separate. Remember to work on sections that are not touching and then come back to the adjacent sections when it’s dry.

After I finished the flowers, I added some green around them and blended it to fade out. Then I used all 4 flower colors to flick some speckles with the brush.

I die cut the panel and added a sentiment.

Have a great day!

stamps- Sweet ‘n Sassy Peony Cluster; paper- Northwoods watercolor paper, SU! Peach Parfait; ink- Memento Tuxedo Black, Distress Antique Linen; accessories- Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolors, waterbrush, Gina Marie Scalloped Stitched Rectangles, rhinestones.

watercolor birds

Hello friends and happy Thursday!

Today I am on the Art Impressions blog with a simple card using some of the Ai Watercolor Sets.  I’ve used 4869- WC Small Container Set, 4872- WC Birds Set, 4052- WC Flower Set 1, 4051- Foliage Set 1, 4867- WC Foliage Set 2 New, and 4903- WC Sentiments Set.

I love the little nest in the bird set!  I’ve masked the bucket and pot to add the nest and flowers.

I diecut an edge on my kraft layer to make a simple banner. Then the image circle was popped up with foam tape and some twine plus a few Nuvo drops finished the card.

Have a great day and… happy stamping!
