no peeking!

Recently some friends and I got together for a day of stamping fun. Most of us are from NY and PA. We all plan a card for everyone to make and I love our November get together because I end up with a great addition to my Christmas card pile!

For my project, I used the SU! Santa’s Suit stamp set and an old sentiment from my stash.

I saw a card somewhere where someone cut Santa’s pants and it was too cute not to CASE. I borrowed a layout from another card and I was happy with it. Here’s the front “opened”.

Christmas pine

Good morning!

Just popping in with a CAS Christmas card using some Sweet ‘n Sassy stamps.  Here I used Christmas Pine.

This really was pretty quick & easy to create…in fact, I made 4 in a short time for my holiday cards. I stamped the pinecone first and masked it before stamping the branches. The background was lightly sponged over a stencil and the brown “splatters” were from an old stamp. Instead of coloring the pinecone, I simply sponged on a bit of brown and added a little Stickles for some sparkle.

ugly sweaters

Hello friends and Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope you all are able to spend this day with family and friends, giving thanks for all God has blessed us with!

It may be Thanksgiving, but today the Art Impressions team is featuring the new Ai Michael’s exclusive Christmas Clear & PopCards Sets! Here I used the SC0799- Ugly Sweater set.

I’ve been wanting to make some CAS cards with a little selective, “spotlight”, coloring and I thought this gal would be perfect for it! I tried 2 different styles with masking and sponging on each. Both used a combination of masking with a post-it note and some masking fluid for the tiny areas. On the first one, I simply sponged green ink on the right side.

For the second one, I covered the masked image with a dotted stencil and sponged on some red ink. For both, I kept my image close to the bottom so I could add a strip of patterned paper to the top. After selectively coloring a few areas, I finished them with some Stickles and tied on some linen thread.

Happy Thanksgiving!

giving thanks

Hello friends and happy Monday!

Today I am on the Art Impressions blog with another card using the 4939- Full of Thanks set. This time I used the cute turkey in disguise!  I think he is the one giving thanks…for not landing on the dinner plate!

I used a Simon Says Stamp die for a layer to pop him up on and then added a few gold rhinestones for the “ground”.

Have a great Monday and a wonderful Thanksgiving… happy stamping!

so full… of thanks

Hello friends and happy Monday!

Today I am on the Art Impressions blog with a card using the 4939- Full of Thanks set. This set is perfect for your Thanksgiving projects! The sentiments are so fun.  I also used the Gina Marie Designs Pumpkin Quilt die which my friend, Tina, bought and then enabled our whole group of friends to purchase. LOL. Does that happen to you? It’s so pretty and makes the perfect background for this Ai set!

While I was die cutting different papers to use, I figured I might as well switch the pieces around and make two cards.  These critters are so cute with their tummies full of pumpkin pie!

I still had plenty of leftover pieces and needed a few “quick cards” but didn’t have time to color up some extra images.  My solution was to piece the pumpkin pieces together onto a patterned background and then stamp the images and sentiment on the inside.

I used rust and dark brown inks to give them some color without actually coloring. 🙂

under His wings

Good morning!

Just popping in with a card or two using some Sweet ‘n Sassy stamps.  Here I used His Wings to create a CAS card.

I started by sponging some green & blue ink over a stencil for the background. The feathers were colored with Copics and popped with dimensionals.

I actually made this second card first but realized the set was out of stock/retired. I wasn’t going to share it but since I already took a photo, I thought many of you might have it and would like to see a way to use it other than bible journaling. So here is a similar card with the retired set, Songs of Praise.

haunted mansion PopCard

Hello friends!  The current Ai Challenge is “Third Dimension” and we are featuring the new Art Impressions PopCards! Here I used 4944- Haunted Mansion PopCard and the 4862- PopCard Template.

haunted mansion PopCard 1 diane zechman

I found some cute papers in my stash to go with the images and die cut a circle window in the front. After you make one of the PopCards to see how they are put together, they are pretty easy to create. When you open the card, the mansion pops up to be 3-D!

haunted mansion PopCard 2 diane zechman

I’m not sure who’s idea it was (I think it was Kate’s) to cut the template from acetate but it works great! Plus, it is clear so you don’t see it from the side!

Now it’s your turn to break out your favorite stamps, make a card, and join us in the “Third Dimension” Challenge!

Happy stamping!

Christmas topiary

Good morning!

It may be Halloween, but I am popping in with a CAS Christmas card using some Sweet ‘n Sassy stamps.  Here I used Christmas Topiaries.

christmas topiaries diane zechman

I started by sponging a light turquoise ink over the Tim Holtz Nordic stencil. Then I realized that if I turn the stencil 90° and sponge again, it looks kinda like a flower! After I edited my pic, though, I see white Xs…lol.  Focus on the blue! 😉

The topiary was cut out and popped with dimensionals.

Have a great day!

Skeleton Wiggle Wobble (he glows!)

Hello friends and happy Monday!

Today I am CASE-ing my DT friend, Renee, on the Art Impressions blog with a card using the Ai 4952- Skeleton Wiggle Wobble set.  (She shared her card last week)  The sentiment on the front of my card is from the Michael’s exclusive SC0680- Spare Me clear set.

Renee had the brilliant idea to create a spider web window on her card and I loved it so much that I wanted to re-create it on a card for my friend who has an October birthday and LOVES Halloween.  After seeing Renee’s card, I couldn’t even think of making mine any other way! lol.  It’s perfect!

skeleton WW 1 diane zechman

I changed mine up a bit by making a different shaped window and adding a punched creepy fence to the front. I used the same cute mice punch but brought that to the front as well.

On the inside, the wobbly skeleton was assembled with mini brads and he is made EXTRA wobbly by adhering him to the card with a Mini Action Wobble.  I opted to skip his hat & bow tie this time.

skeleton WW 2 diane zechman

Since I used a black card base and a dark patterned paper inside, it is difficult to sign the card.  My solution was to use the leftover pieces I die cut from the front window to adhere on the back for my message and signature.

skeleton WW 3 diane zechman

Now, I didn’t give him a hat & bow tie for a reason….he GLOWS IN THE DARK!!!  So I didn’t want to cover up part of his head.  After I assembled all his parts with the mini brads, I used an old bottle of Glow-in-the-Dark fabric paint I had in my stash (for many moons!)  Mine was a pale yellow color which I didn’t see while searching but I did find the same brand with a Natural color which I’ve linked below.  I’m guessing the natural color would be better anyway!  Oh, and I didn’t forget the eyes in the little bat & spider die cuts….they glow too!

Here’s a quick little video to see the action!

I want to thank Renee for letting me CASE her card!  I enjoyed making this for my friend.  Have a great Monday and… happy stamping!
