Scor-Pal and Sugar Rush

A few months ago I was asked to be on the Scor-Pal design team and you know I ♥ my Scor-Pal!  Well, everyone has been busy behind the scenes but our team leader, Tami Mayberry has recently created a Scor-Pal blog and this week she is introducing the design team members.  Today is the day that I am introduced, so go have a look!  And while you’re there be sure to comment for a chance to win!  You can find info on the prizes here.

I used the Scor-Pal on today’s card (to create texture over the main image), along with some cute Paper Smooches stamps from the new set called Sugar Rush.  The three mushrooms were created with the popsicle, gumdrop, and tiny circle.  The sentiment is from the set too…love Kim’s fonts!

This card was also created for the Paper Smooches July Sparks Challenge.

The sketch is from Designer Drafts 6 (bottom left).   I thought I had a die with large brackets, but apparently I was wrong.  LOL.  So I created some in a Word document the size I needed, printed them on the back side of the Cocoa cardstock, and cut them out by hand.  Not too difficult…just a bit time consuming.

The card base is from a pack of DCWV textured cards with various patterns that I purchased quite a few years ago.  I forgot how nice they are…I think I’ll be using them more.  😉

Thanks for looking!

swanky snow play

Wow…two posts in one day.  I guess I was on a roll and didn’t want to stop.  lol.

I decided to participate in the Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge so last night I pulled out a few stamp sets that recently arrived.  I wanted to think “outside the box” and this card was so much fun to put together!

Soooo…we all know about the reindeer games, but what games do snowmen play?  hmmm.

I thought these two swanky snowdudes with their outstretched arms might like to play some tetherball (am I dating myself here?).  With a snowball on a string, of course.  I used the “North pole” to anchor the baker’s twine…and they’re just a-chillin’.

Here’s a close up…

Kim Hughes has some fun sketches and color combos posted on her site.  I used the first row of colors (top to bottom) from the #6 Cool Shades here.  I also used a sketch from the Designer Drafts #1 (first one in second row).   You can click on the banner to see all the details:

Have a swanky fun weekend!

monster wishes

It’s been a crazy week…sick dog and all.  But we’re on the mend and things are getting back on track.  They even came and finally re-paved our road.  Yay!  I was tired of it being torn up and even more tired of the dust.  I’m thankful I can hang clothes out on the line again!

I’ve also been stamping.  A few things I can’t share yet but here’s one that I can…

Monster wishes…(I’ll probably write inside “for a fang-tastic birthday”).

I just love this Paper Smooches monster from the Falling For You set!  When I first stamped him, I knew I wanted to paper piece him.  Kim’s cute images are so easy to do this!  When I stamped him on the polka dots, I thought he might look cute with pants…he he.  So I stamped him a second time and drew in some trousers.  😉  He’s popped up on dimensionals to help make him the focal point.

The Monster word is included in the set but I also wanted the word “wishes” so I doodled that in myself, trying to match Kim’s lettering.  I don’t know how successful I was, but I think it’ll pass.

I hope you all have a fun & SAFE weekend!  To all my US friends, have a happy 4th!

stamps- Paper Smooches Falling For You; doodles- pants & “wishes”; paper- MME Stella and Rose- Gertie, white, brown; ink- Memento Black, white gel pen; accessories- pop dots, Copic BG10 for shadow, MFT Banner Die, Stickles.

basket of stars

When I printed out Kim Hughes’ folk stars I immediately knew I wanted to place them into her Easter basket (minus the eggs, of course!)

I embossed a striped layer and then also a starry layer on top of that.  A little Stickles outlines the embossed stars…just enough to add a little sparkle and finish the card off.

Thanks for peeking in.  🙂

digi bee in disguise

Yesterday I had some more fun with the Paper Smooches free digital images.  What I’ve really been doing is biding my time until I decide which sets I want to order.  ha!

Here I used the digi Bee and turned him into a ladybug…

I cut the bee’s stripes off the bottom, traced his head for the body, and relocated his wings.  😉

Thought that a flower shaped card would be cute to attach him to.  And I couldn’t help pulling out the same DCWV Citrus papers again.  They’re just so bright and fun and work great with Kim’s images!

The text was printed onto a scrap of paper I had left from one of my previous projects.  It’s super easy…just print your text on regular printer paper.  Then attach your scrap of paper overtop of the text with removable adhesive and run it back through the printer a second time.  Easy peasy!

Tomorrow I will have another card I made with some different P.S. digis.  And this time I didn’t use the Citrus papers.  LOL.

bee happy

This weekend we had a chance to sneak a few flowers in the ground and planters.  It’s so nice to have a day or two without rain!

I was inspired by our planting to come inside and create this card with a free digi image and sentiment by Kim Hughes.  Her images ooze with cuteness!

The cute layout is from Kim’s Designer Drafts sketches #5 and I added some dots with a black pen across the top & bottom of the strips.

I also applied Stickles to the bee’s wings…just a little something but it adds so much to the card.  And I used the new Spellbinders Grommet Tags for the sentiment.  So glad I purchased those!

Bee happy today!

spiffy scooters and floating clouds

First let me say…I {heart} this set!  It’s called Spiffy Scooters (even the name is cute).  I had so much fun with it!  Kim Hughes really rocked the scooters with this one.

My first thoughts with this set were to make a tent card with the scooter on the top and also make the clouds “floating” in the sky with strips of acetate.  It turned out pretty much how I envisioned except the scooter in my mind was mostly pink.  Maybe next time!

It may be difficult to see but I used strips of 10 mil acetate from Hobby lobby to sandwich between the clouds (each cloud is 2 layers) and the card base / layer.  I used heavy white cardstock so I wanted a heavier acetate to hold the weight of the clouds & sun.

Here’s a side view…

I also used a tiny strip of acetate to stamp the flag “pole” with Stazon ink.  Then I paper pieced the flag onto the acetate.

The only thing I wish I had added were some puffs of smoke behind the scooter.

Have a great day!  We’re having yet another rainy week.
