Hedgie’s reading

Happy Saturday…yay for the weekend!

Today I have a birthday card with Tina Wenke’s Hedgehog Reading image.  School is almost out where I live so this image would also be perfect for all those students studying for finals!  I actually made 2 of this card and added a little something to one of them for a special someone…read on!

When I first bought the Labels 7 Nestabilities I knew I wanted to create a book-shaped card.  It just took me a while to take time to do it.  LOL.  The edges were sponged with distress ink and I also folded and sponged the center of the patterned paper.

In this photo I hope you can see the Crystal Effects used to make the glasses shiny.  And I used a silicone dimensional glue to pop up a few areas.  We learned about using this from the lovely ladies at the Buffalo Stamps & Stuff store.  I need to practice more with this but you can see the top edge of the flower raised up here.

From this angle you can see the flower again…how the top edge is raised.  And Hedgie’s arm was popped up as well.

I mentioned that my second Hedgie card was for a special person…Stuart (one of the owners of Stampavie) recently had a birthday and so I personalized his card with a special book…LOL.  Stuart is always teasing the design team (all in good fun!) and this was a chance to tease him back.  😉  I know it isn’t proper English at the end but I was running out of space.  LOL.

Stuart, I hope you had a great birthday!

*Be sure to scroll down to yesterday’s post and leave a comment for a chance to win some eP goodies!

It’s Saturday and I’m up bright and early…what’s up with that?!  I am not a morning person.  LOL.  So while I’m up, I’ll share another Stampavie card I made.

I was anxious to use this Tina Wenke image called Storybook Friends!  I just love these 2 girls on a bench!

And I love how Kittie uses these flowers on her cards so of course I just HAD to cave and buy the punch.  😉

Have a great Saturday!  I’m crossing my fingers and hoping for sun!

Stampavie E-Team Blog Hop

Happy Friday!  Today the E-Team from Eclectic Paperie invited the Stampavie DT to join them in their blog hop…what fun!

Here’s a list of the participants in the hop…be sure to check out each one and leave a comment for a chance to win.  😉

The E-Team:

The Stampavie DT:
Diane (me!)
Asa

You can leave comments Friday(May 20) – Sunday(May 22nd). Winners will be posted on the eP blog on Monday, May 23rd.
5 winners will be picked randomly between both the E-Team’s & Stampavie DT’s blogs. Winners will receive a Stampavie stamp plus some other eP goodies.
ALSO…Stampavie stamps that eP carries will be 10% off during the hop. Pre-orders for the newest releases will also be available and marked at 10% off!  You can find them all here.

Now the E-Team is not only using their Stampavie stamps today, but they are also focusing on their coloring techniques.  Normally I use Copics and Promarkers but occasionally I like to use the Stampavie images in ways that don’t need coloring (ie: tone on tone) so that stampers who really don’t like to color can see how they can still create beautiful projects.

Here I heat embossed the new Penny Johnson chandelier with black embossing powder.  The only coloring I did was a little yellow on the flames with a marker.  Then I added a bit of blue with a different medium… I added lots of tiny dots with Baby Blue Liquid Pearls.   Easy!

The edges of the main image were torn and I brushed them with the edge of  my Versamark pad and embossed them with black e.p.

I had to laugh at myself because before I started this card, I had in my mind that I wanted to make a black and white card with a little bit of turquoise.  LOL.  It has a little more turquoise than I envisioned but I like it nonetheless!

I hope you enjoy the hop!  Many thanks to Daisy and her team for inviting us to play along!

under the rainbow

It has *still* been raining so much much here…I’m surprised we haven’t all floated away by now.  lol.  This afternoon the sun is starting to peek out though so I thought it would be fitting to share this Stampavie card I made.

I used the Gillian Roberts Under My Umbrella image…is it not sweet?!  ♥

I ran out of arches to color in my die-cut rainbow so carried the blue and violet over to her umbrella.  ;0)   The white panel was diecut and embossed.  Then I die-cut and embossed a green strip, tore the top edge and attached it over the white.  I also die-cut extra clouds and popped them up over the first ones.

Be sure to stop back on Friday for a lot more samples…the Stampavie DT will be joining the E-Team at Eclectic Paperie in their blog hop featuring Stampavie images.  How fun!

how about some blog candy?

Happy Friday!  Since today is Friday the 13th, I thought I’d turn this unlucky day into a lucky one…at least for one of my readers!

Stampavie has provided me with some stamps to give away and for the first one I chose Helz Cuppleditch’s Loopy Lops Strawberry Fair.  I just love this bunny and we have been eating strawberries like crazy lately.  Well, I should say…drinking!  LOL.  DH keeps asking me to make some smoothies…we are getting lots of use from the Ninja I bought.

If you want to see a recipe I made with Loopy Lops all colored, you can check it out here.

Now.. all you need to do to enter for a chance to win is comment on this post…that’s it!  No need to link me or put me in your sidebar, etc.  But you are welcome to do so if you wish!   And if you have a favorite smoothie recipe, I would love if you would share it in your comments!  :0)   Mmmmm.

I’ll pick a winner Sunday night.  Have a great weekend!

a vintage bird cage!

Hello and happy Thursday!  We are all excited at Stampavie about the new Penny Johnson Vintage Collection!  It is so different and so FUN!  Today I used 2 of the new images and a sentiment from a third one.

Isn’t this Bird Cage fabulous?  Birds and their cages are so popular right now and Penny totally rocked this!

Besides the bird cage I also used the Garden Shelf image to create the background strip.  The left side of the image was stamped on the top of the layer and the right side of the image was stamped toward the bottom.  The bird and damask from the Bird Cage stamp were stamped separately over the Garden Shelf image.  Then the birds were lightly watercolored.  The damask was also lightly stamped over the side of the bird cage in the main image and a green marker was used on the keys to do the same.  The sentiment is from the Shabby Chic Frame.

I don’t think I can choose a favorite from this collection…I ♥ them all!  (But that’s usually the way it is with Stampavie, isn’t it?  LOL.)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!  We’re almost to the weekend….YAY!  🙂

sweet friend Fiona

Hello!  It’s my turn to post on the Stampavie DT blog today and I have a card with Gillian Roberts’ Fiona.  I added a sentiment for a friend but she’d also be perfect for a Mother’s Day card, don’t you think?

I cut her out with the largest of the Labels 14 Spellbinders die but I still wanted a brown border so I traced the outside of the die and cut it out by hand.  The flower border is from the EK Success Daisy Chain punch and 2 of the flowers were trimmed off to place in the center of the bigger Retro Flower punch.

I hope you have a great Wednesday!  Thanks for stopping by!

Hello!

Today I have a card with another cute Stampavie image from The CHA release.  This Laurence Design stamp called Hello! is just purrfect for many occasions!  I love the sweet Kitten’s face and the antique telephone.

The image was colored with Promarkers while I was at CHA and now I paired it with some DCWV Latte papers.  I used the Martha Stewart Hydrangeas border punch which I forgot that I purchased.  That doesn’t happen to you, does it?  😉  But I’m sure I’ll be pulling this one out again soon…I ♥ the little flower border it makes!  The center of the flowers were dotted with Stickles.

I did a little doodling around the image too.  I haven’t done much of that lately but I still really like the whimsical look that it gives.  The ribbon has a few pleats which are so easy to make when you stick it down with red-line tape.

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend and I wish you a very blessed Easter!

Kitty on the Swing

It’s raining today but ohhh…it’s been so nice to have temps above freezing!  We’ve had a busy weekend, though, full of fixing vehicles.  Dontcha hate car repairs?  I’m glad DH can work on them most of the time!

I am anxious to get our hammock back out and that thought reminded me of a card I made that I haven’t shared yet.  I only had to add a sentiment but somehow it got tossed aside.  I adore this Gillian Roberts image called Kitty on the Swing

I really screwed this one up, though!  Can you tell?  I colored it with Heidi’s Promarkers while I was at CHA and was really happy with the results until I grabbed a paper trimmer that I wasn’t used to using and CHOPPED THE TOP OF HER HEAD OFF!  Aaugh!  Stuart got a chuckle over that one.  LOL.  And I was determined to still use this image…I loved the colors in it!  So I had to get a bit creative.  What to do?!

I decided to add a strip of coordinating ribbon to the top of the image and hide the evidence!  LOL.  And I figured a few punched leaves I found would be the tree her swing was hanging from.  I think it worked out ok in the end…what do you think?

Here’s a close-up of the girl and the coloring with Promarkers.  Remember…it was my first time using them.

There are so many ways to fix your mistakes…don’t be so quick to give up!  I was glad I didn’t toss this one in the trash.  ;0)

Have a great day!

a new nametag

Today’s my turn to post on the Stampavie blog and I’m back with another 3D project.  This time I thought I’d share the new nametag I made for the last stamping gathering I went to.  But before I get to my project, I wanted to remind you all that Stampavie is having a Design Team Call…be sure to check it out!

I love getting together with friends old and new for a fun day of stamping!  I’d been wanting to update my nametag for a long time and never got around to it.  So I was happy to get this project done and kinda pleased with how it turned out.  I used the Laurence Design Spring Has Sprung image from Stampavie.  Oh how I wish Spring has sprung!  LOL.  We’re getting close here!

This image reminds me of my own pup, Riley.  Maybe that’s why I love it so much!  The image was colored with Copics and I cut it up, placing the pieces to my liking.  It was paired with some cute October Afternoon papers and the finished nametag was placed in a badge holder from Walmart.  Wouldn’t it be fun to make luggage tags too?  What have YOU created lately with your Stampavie stamps?

Have a great day!
