a tweet tag

Happy Earth Day!  Today it’s my turn to post on the Stampavie blog and I’ve made a tag for a birthday gift for a dear friend using Bird on Dogwood Branch.

I drew the colors for my tag from the pretty bag.  It was colored with markers and I used a bit of blue chalk on the background.

You may not tell but the bag is very sparkly so I added a bit of Stickles to the butterfly and flower centers.  The sentiment is popped up on dimensionals.

Have a “tweet” day!

Babette Sewing

Good morning!  I can’t believe April is here already!  Today I have a Sarah Kay card using the new Babette Sewing image.  I think I will save this card for Mother’s Day next month…it would be perfect, don’t you think?

To go along with the sewing theme of the image I decided to make a background that would resemble a quilt by using skinny strips of paper and the Herringbone technique.  Babette was cut out and popped up with dimensionals.

Have a great Monday!

the tweet family

Are you enjoying this glorious weather?  ♥   I hope so!

Today I have my last CHA card to share.  On this one I used the Penny Johnson image called The Tweet Family and a sentiment from Tina Wenke’s Sweet Wishes.

Some of the flowers and 1 bird were popped up.  Here’s a side view so you can see the dimension…

I haven’t used my octagon dies much but I was really liking this look.  I think I may get them out again soon!

I decided to step outside my box and create a 12×12 scrapbook page.

Funny thing is…instead of starting with a photo, I started by creating a layout.  I had planned to choose a photo from years past but when I was nearly finished, I couldn’t find a photo that would work.  duh!  So I asked DD to change into a navy sweater and hold the flowers she received for Valentine’s Day.  Tada!  🙂

Here’s a close up of the image I used… Flower Friends by Penny Johnson.

sweet Katie

Today I’m sharing another card I made for the Stampavie booth at CHA.  Here I used the Sarah Kay Katie image.  The sentiment and tiny flower are from Tina Wenke’s Happy Birthday set.

I diecut a Sizzix File Folder for the card base.  The circle layers are from Spellbinders dies and the grass is by QuicKutz.  This was made to hang on a wall for display.  If I wanted to make it stand up, I would cut off the bottom of the doily die so it was flush with the bottom of the file folder base.

Hope you have a great weekend!

revisiting retiform

I have a few cards to share that I made the past few weeks but I will start with the most recent one.  These two Sarah Kay images just go so well together and I wanted to incorporate them both onto the cardfront.  So I thought it would be fun to try the Retiform technique again.  Here’s another card I made with it about 2 1/2 years ago.  The colors and style are so different from how I would normally use a Sarah Kay image but it was a fun way to break out of my “norm”.

Yes, the colors really are that bright!  Even hubby commented on it as he walked by.  LOL.  Glossy cardstock really makes the color pop!

sharing sweets

Mmmm…I could really go for an ice cream sundae with a friend right now!  How fun would that be?

I used a new Tina Wenke image by Stampavie called Sweet Sharing on this card.  The sentiment is from Tina’s Sweet Wishes set.

For the background I diecut/embossed some DCWV Garden Party patterned paper with the Cuttlebug Blooming Bouquet die.

Here’s a close up of Tina’s girls…

a cartful of birthday wishes

Cartful…did you ever look at a word and think it just doesn’t look spelled right?  I really wanted to put a “bonus l” on that one…LOL.  (Anyone teach Fundations?)  Dictionary.com to the rescue…

cartful  (ˈkɑːtˌfʊl)  — n   the amount a cart can hold

yup…that’s what I wanted.  :^)   This mouse’s cart is pretty full!

Today I’m sharing a card I made a few weeks ago using Tina Wenke’s new image called Mouse Pushing Birthday Cart by Stampavie.  This is perfect for a birthday of any age and it’s just…well…just plain old sweet!  I also used a sentiment from Tina’s Celebrate set.

I kept the layout pretty simple with minimal embellishments so I “spruced it up” a bit with some Crystal Effects to make the chocolate and cherry shine.

I hope you have a great weekend!  The sun is shining and it looks like it’s gonna be a nice day.  🙂

whooo luvs ya!

Today I’m sharing another new Stampavie image from the CHA release.  Tina Wenke drew these wonderful owls…this is just a happy image, isn’t it?

I remembered that I picked up a wooden heart hanger last year, so the owls found a home there.  😉  I also cut some flowers from patterned paper to attach.

Be sure to check out the Stampavie blog every day for projects with all of the newly released images.

I hope you are having a great start to the new week!

a sneak peek of Little Tobi

This past week the Stampavie Design Team started showing sneak peeks of the new images for CHA.  Have you seen them?  Are you loving them so far?  I am!  ♥  And we have lots more to come so be sure to check back on the blog each day.

Today I am sharing a card made with a new Penny Johnson image called Little Tobi Watering the Roses.  So sweet, isn’t it?  The image was colored with Promarkers and Flexmarkers, then I cut her out with the “Out of The Box” technique.

I thought that this cute little girl with her watering can would be perfect for a watering can shaped card…I love shaped cards!  So I created a watering can pattern to place her on.  Below are three sizes of my template…I used the Medium size one here.

Click on the thumbnail pic.  Then right click on the image and “save image as” to download the template to your computer.

Trace and cut the pattern from desired cardstock or patterned paper (the heart is optional).   Attach the handle.  Then attach the watering can to your card base with your card fold at the top.  Be sure the size of your card base is slightly smaller than the body of the watering can so it’s not seen from the front.  Decorate as desired…have fun with it!
