paper pumpkin catch-up

I know I’m not the only one who has stacks of untouched SU! Paper Pumpkin kits! I recently started to chip away at them and use some alternate sentiments and designs so that I can donate some to a card ministry. I finished 3 kits here. The first one is a recent kit from April 2022. I added sentiments from SU! High Tide and Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Inspirational Word Art 2, God Is BiggerBe Encouraged, God’s Purpose (Retired), Vintage Seed Packet (Retired), and Made New.

The first cards had the moon on the front and the sun on the inside. I cut them apart and layered the panels onto new card bases.

The next two cards in the kit are a Z-fold style. There’s an area on the back of each to write your personal message.

The next kit is from March 2018. Each card had a coordinating envelope with a string closure. Since they would be difficult to mail, I made a few mostly following the directions (first photo) that I could hand deliver. Then I cut up some of the remaining envelopes to make some alternate cards and a scrap page too! The scrap page was inspired by Rachel Tessman’s pocket page, with a few added details.

The last kit that I completed was from March 2022. I also used the SU! Lift Me Up and On The Horizon sets, and Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Everyday Greetings and Be Encouraged.

Have a great day!

Christmas catch up

Hello! I have several Christmas cards and some scrapbook pages that I didn’t get to share so today I’ll post them all together here. The first two cards were actually made back in July for the Art Impressions new release for the summer trade show. The first card uses the 5193- Woodland Holiday Set. I also used the Hexagon Double Stitched Dies.

On my second card I used those same dies, along with 5192- Penguin Cheer Set. Both sets are so cute! Papers are from Doodlebug- home for the holidays. Sentiment is on Sizzix Ornate Labels.

I love, love, love the Simon Says Stamp Gnome dies! I will definitely be making more cards with those!

Here’s another ATC Coin I made for a swap. The Grinch stamp set is from Gina Marie Designs.

I wanted to add the extra sentiment but it wouldn’t quite fit so I added an extra scored circle to the back. Then I split the sentiment and added it to the inside.

I am not usually a scrapbooker but I made these pages for a friend so I made an extra set for myself! Love the lantern!

I used a Martha Stewart Looped Snowflake punch, retired Sweet ‘n Sassy Large Snowflake dies, Lawn Fawn Scripty Joy, Simon Says Stamp Kadyn Snowflake, Gina Marie Designs- Lantern, Pine Cone, Pine Needle Sprig set, and Ribbon Bow die set, Marianne Designs Sleigh die and tree die, Prima Forest Leaves dies, and SU! Detailed Deer Thinlits.

This starry night sky card was my shoebox project at an event in November. The stars are a Tim Holtz die. This card was CASED but I have no info where it’s from. Love the simplicity!

One of my New Year’s resolutions is to get a head start and make a few Christmas cards each month. We’ll see how that goes (I say it every year).

Have a great day!

7 Layer Salad

It has been a while since I shared a recipe!  My friends and I are swapping 6×6 recipe pages again soon and this is what they requested that I do.  I made this salad for a party I had in February and everyone loved it.  It’s an old recipe and very simple to make.  I still call it 7 Layer Salad but I make it with more than the original 7 layers.  I added some other ingredients to the list…pick & choose what you like!

There’s a lot of Anna’s signature faux stitching with a tracing wheel on here.  Most of it isn’t showing up in the pic.  I’ve been grabbing that tracing wheel a lot lately since I now keep it handy in my bucket of tools.

It was so nice to finally see a bit of sun today!  Wish it would come back out.  Have a great day!

to love and to cherish

This past week the Scor-Pal team hopped with the gals at Pink Paislee.  Today I will share my project using these fabulous products.  I made a 12×12 2-page layout with pics from my daughter’s recent wedding.  I used the Scor-Pal, Scor-Envi, Scor-Tape, and the Pink Paislee Artisan and Portfolio collections.

I loved the black and white pattern on one of the papers called Amazing.  It also  already has the blue diagonal stripe and black chevron “tape” to give you a great jumpstart on your layout.

On the first page I used photos that were taken when they said their vows so it was only fitting to title the pages “To Love” and “To Cherish”.  The smaller letters are glittery alpha stickers and the words love and cherish are foam word stickers which can be customized with various coloring mediums.  I chose to leave mine natural so they would remain elegant and contrast from the darker background.

On each page I used the Scor-Envi tool to create diagonally embossed lines on the white cardstock.  Then I added small white adhesive pearls to each place the lines intersected.  I don’t think I will ever tire of this look…it’s so pretty in person!  The chipboard hearts have a resist pattern and vintage script on them.  They come white and you add color to customize these as well.  I added some gray dye-based ink with a Q-tip to reveal the chevron pattern…fun!

I wanted to add a rosette but I didn’t want it to be very thick since the pages will be going into a scrapbook.  This rosette was cut in a 1″ wide strip and the length was scored every 1/8″.  Directions can be found in the Scor-Pal book.

The second page has pictures of the bubbles after the ceremony and the rear-view mirror of the car they rode away in… moments to cherish.

The glittery alpha stickers were placed onto flags that I cut from the design on the reverse side of the paper (also used for the rosette above).  You can also see one of the beautiful photo corners I used here (plus more of the diagonally embossed pattern).

Another chipboard heart accents the photos.

poolin’ around

Hi friends!  Today I will be sharing my projects that were featured on the Scor-pal blog as part of this week’s Scor-pal and Momenta blog week. Of course, if you missed these projects or any of the other great projects from the Scor-pal team you’ll want to hop on over there and see what’s been going on. Be sure to leave comments on each post from this week for a chance to win some great prizes.  Entry deadline in 8am Monday, July 2, so there’s still time!

I had 2 projects to share this week using the Scor-Pal and some Kaleidoscope papers and stickers by Momenta.  First up I have a 12 x 12 scrap page.  As you may know, I am usually not a scrapper but I am slowly trying my hand at it.  The sticker at the bottom says “Smile and the world smiles with you”.  So true!

This is an old photo of my DD when she was little…love that grin!  All dressed up but no swimsuit on.  lol.  If you look closely through the panes in the door, there’s a little kiddie pool outside…all that we had at the time!

I used those panes of glass as inspiration to make a diagonal embossed background of 1″ squares on the top of the page.  It was very easy to create with the Scor-Pal…and will be even easier when the new diagonal scoring plate is released!  Can’t wait!  Here’s a close up of the scoring and some random stitching on my sewing machine.

I love the puffy scalloped border sticker and I especially love the layered flower sticker I used.  Super cute!

For the next project, I went in a different direction and made 2 friendship cards.  The same Kaleidoscope papers and stickers were used, along with the same green thread for stitching.  I also added some Stickles to the stickers and stuck on a few sticky-back rhinestones. (say that a few times!)

The cards are 4 1/4 x 11, scored at 4 1/4 and 8 1/2 to create a pocket inside. (Exactly like the Gift Card / Money pocket cards I made… except this time it holds a little pull-out tag).  Here’s the inside.  The flap is made into a pocket with Scor-Tape on the top and bottom edges.

As you can see, I added more Momenta stickers and papers to the inside.

I decided to step outside my box and create a 12×12 scrapbook page.

Funny thing is…instead of starting with a photo, I started by creating a layout.  I had planned to choose a photo from years past but when I was nearly finished, I couldn’t find a photo that would work.  duh!  So I asked DD to change into a navy sweater and hold the flowers she received for Valentine’s Day.  Tada!  🙂

Here’s a close up of the image I used… Flower Friends by Penny Johnson.

scrappin’

*Be sure to scroll down and enter for my blog candy*

Now, don’t faint…. but I scrapped.  :^)

My good friend is a SU! demo and she had a hostess want her to do a scrap page at her party.  So she and I sat down with her supplies and used this layout that I saved a long time ago…I don’t remember where it’s from.  But I really like how it turned out.

All supplies by Stampin’ Up! (except the staples!)

I really need to find time to do some more scrapping!

Have a great Monday!

going out of my comfort zone

No, your eyes are not deceiving you….I scrapped!  LOL.  I am way out of my comfort zone again but I really like how this turned out.

You probably know how crappy I am at scrapbooking…LOL.  So I will fess up and admit that this was inspired by this gorgeous layout.  I fell in love with it when I happened across it one day on SCS and knew I had to CASE it!  Plus it was a great way to use my SU! Medallion stamp.

And then I came up with a second page to complete a 2 page spread…

scrap-page-2-diane-zechman.jpg

The lace is straight on the page…it was just difficult getting a pic of the 12×12 pages without them bending.

It took me forever to do these…even with CASE-ing!  LOL.  I still like the original page that Lacey did better, but I am pleased with these results.  Don’t hold your breath, but I think I may want to try some more.  :0)

Edit: I found Lacey’s blog…check it out!

Have a great weekend!

CC Designs Autumn Sugarplums BLOG HOP!

Welcome to the CC Designs Autumn Sugarplums Blog Hop!!

The Autumn Sugarplums release is so large the whole team wanted to participate so we decided to do our very first blog hop!

If you’ve just happened across my blog and didn’t start at the beginning click here <—–click!

When I finished coloring my images, I changed my mind on the project I wanted to create.  I was originally planning to make a card as usual but then I decided to make a 6×6 scrap page.  I know…..don’t faint!  LOL.  We all know how bad I am at scrapping but I tried to scale it down a bit and this time I was rather pleased.  (There may be hope for me yet!  ha ha!)

The Autumn Sugarplums kit is soooo cute and easy to work with!  Here’s what I came up with.  All I need to do yet is add the year to my page but I wasn’t sure yet where/how I wanted to do that.  I might just write the year on the pumpkin in the bottom corner.  Any suggestions?

ATS release is tonight!

6x6-spring-things-diane-zechman.jpgSorry I am so late in posting again about the release tonight!  It’s only a few hours away.  So if you read this in time, pop on over to ATS and chat with us!

I spent part of my time this afternoon visiting a friend who has not been feeling well and got some sad news from the doctors.  I would appreciate if you would keep her in your prayers.  Thanks so much!  She is very dear to me.

I also took a few pics this afternoon of some projects I recently made.  One I will share tomorrow and here is the other one.

Now, remember please, that I am not a scrapper.  LOL.  Despite that fact, I was rather pleased with how this turned out.  It wasn’t as busy as the kitty pages I shared a few months ago!  ha ha.

The stamps used here are from the C.C. Designs Spring Things and Hunny Bunnies sets that will be released tonight!  Don’t you just love this fence??  The set is full of cuteness but I think the fence and ducky are my faves!

The bunny, ducky, eggs and top butterfly are all popped up on dimensionals.  I know you can’t see all of the words since they are blurred, but I used a Primer Apples font which matches my faux stitching really nicely.  And I drew a few eggs along the fencerow with my Copics.

I hope to see you at the release!
