birthday monkey

The only thing worse than a Monday is being sick on a Monday.  LOL.  But it’s almost noon and I feel quite a bit better already so maybe there’s hope for the rest of the day.  ;0)

Since I’m not doing much else, I thought it was a good time to sit down and share another card I made recently.  This is for my nephew who’s first birthday will be in May.  For once I’m ahead of the game!  Yay!  I have actually been trying this past weekend to get a bit more organized and I made a birthday calendar to keep track of birthdays and anniversaries.  I have family info written in my pocket calendar and friends’ info printed out on papers here and there.  I wanted to have them all in one place and I think I’ve found a nice (and inexpensive) solution.  It’s almost finished so I’ll share that project soon.

Here I used Birthday Monkey and the C.C. Cutters Ballons die.  Christine also has a  Squiggles die that would have been cute for the balloon strings but I chose to use some Baker’s Twine that a sweet friend was kind enough to send me a sample of.  It was perfect to tie a knot and glue to his hand!  I’m not sure where my friend purchased hers but I see that Christine does sell it in the store here

The monkey and cupcake were colored with Promarkers.  I brought out the dots in the papers and ribbon with dots on the image using my markers and dots on the balloons with Stickles.  Lotsa dots here!  The papers were in my scraps for years so I have no idea where they came from.

I actually made 2 cards identical except my nephew’s has a number one on the balloon from AmyR’s It’s Your Birthday set.  Now I’m *really* ahead of the game with an extra card.  LOL.  Wonder how long that will last.  hmmmm.

Thanks for popping in and have a great Monday!  Things are lookin’ up!

big cupcake!

Can anyone tell me what Spring is like?  I think I’ve forgotten!  LOL.  We had one or two nice days but then it was back to snow and freezing temps.  Yuck.  This morning it was only 16 degrees here.  Ugh.  It was really beautiful, though, with the snow in the trees against a deep blue sky but you didn’t hear me say that!  LOL.  I’ve also been a bit sick the past two weeks so I guess that doesn’t help my mood.

On a brighter note, I do have a few new cards to share.  I had been working on another recipe swap and it was getting a bit boring making so many of the same design.  It felt good to finally make a quick card…instant gratification is one thing I like about this hobby!  Plus I also got a chance to play with my new Promarkers!  Some of my friends overseas have been using them and I’ve wanted to try them for quite some time.  So it was fun getting a chance to play with these markers at CHA!  They are very similar to Copics but I’m really liking the fine bullet tip they have.  They’re not refillable but they are much cheaper to purchase.

Here I colored the C.C. Designs Big Cupcake with Promarkers…I have a limited number of colors right now so I used a skin tone over a brighter yellow to tone it down to match the papers better.

I colored another image the same day and I have a few that I colored out at CHA waiting to be finished into cards so I will definitely be back with more Promarker samples.

Hope you are having a great start to the weekend!

It’s Friday!

Yay!  It’s Friday!  And I’m back with another preview of the March C.C. Designs release.

Today’s previews are for Amy Young’s new Zodiac collection and when I first saw a few of these in person, I thought “wow”!  These are some HUGE stamps!  My card is a normal A2 card, 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″, so you can get an idea of the size of these.  I have to admit I was a bit intimidated at first but after I got started, it really was fun to color.  I kept it clean and simple to let the image stand out.

My original thought was to color all of her hair pink but then I couldn’t decide between pink and brown.  So I compromised and she just dyed her tips.  😉

Check out the other Zodiac girls on the ATS blog!

Birthday Violet

Today starts the previews for the new March releases at All That Scraps.  And I have a card to share using the sweet Birthday Violet image.  Since her name is Violet, I just had to make a purple card, right?

How cute is that big ‘ol candle in the cupcake?!

I added some dots to her bow and jumper with my Copic marker, as well as some stripes to the candle.  Oh, and I added some dots to the sentiment too…you’ll see more of the new sentiments later.  😉  But I can tell you they are fabulous!

Violet was cut out and popped up on dimensionals.  Some Stickles was applied to the flame and her wings.

Thanks for stopping by!  Check out the other samples on the ATS blog and I’ll pop back in tomorrow with a little something from another stamping get together this past weekend.

Bouquet Birgitta

As promised, I will still have some C.C. Designs cards to share the next few weeks.  Here’s one that I made a few days ago using the Bouquet Birgitta image.

And here’s a pic of the inside…I used some scraps left from the front to decorate the inside…

I also used the Tags It Stamp and Die set to make the flowers, tag, and sentiments.

Be sure to check out the ATS blog this week…the March previews will begin tomorrow!

saying goodbye…

…is always hard!  It’s one thing that I’m not very good at.  In fact, I try to avoid it if possible.  “Goodbye”  just seems so final and I like to think that someday I will meet people again.  Sadly though, today’s post is full of goodbyes.

For the past three years I have been designing for All That Scraps and have had many wonderful opportunities, including illustrating my own rubber stamps.  That was very exciting!  This week, though, I have decided that it is time to step down and take a break.  This was a tough decision and I want you to know that I am not leaving due to any unhappiness with ATS.  Christine has been great to work for and I hope you still go and shop at the ATS store…I know I’ll still be shopping there!  Christine has great service.  I am just looking to simplify my life a bit and I’m sure that’s something you can all understand.  Time is precious.  I wish I knew how to create more of it.   ;^)

So while I’m on a sad note, I thought I’d share this card with you.  I am way behind on a few Sympathy cards (probably because I avoid those goodbyes!) and I thought this lovely verse from AmyR’s Get Well Sentiments was just perfect to use now.

Clean.  Simple.  To the point.  I really like this one!

Thanks for stopping by and if you love the C.C. Design’s images, keep checking in!  I will have a few more to post in the next few weeks and I’m sure they will continue to be used in the future.  🙂

a get well basket

Hello!  Today at All That Scraps we are previewing the last set, AmyR’s Get Well Sentiments.  And I just had to pair them up with some of the other new releases…the Bouquet Basket and the Tag Die set.  They all go so well together!

I stamped my first sentiment right inside the basket and added some of the cute flowers from the Tag die set.

I cut the flowers out and then colored the centers with a Copic marker.  And I added some more flowers to the inside with another sentiment from Amy’s set.

I just loved how it turned out and I hope you like it too!  Enjoy your weekend…and be sure to pop into All That Scraps on Monday for the release of these cute products!

Flower Kiki

Hello friends!  I typed this up before I left for CHA so right about now I should be pretty much exhausted…LOL…and heading back home.  I bet my own bed will feel good.  ;^)

Yesterday at All That Scraps the February previews began.  Did you see the awesome basket that Christine has this month?  *love!*  I used it on a card which I will show on Saturday.  But today we are previewing her new stamp, Flower Kiki.  Here’s what I made…

I started with another Vera Bradley notecard that I saved a few years ago.  I just couldn’t toss it…it’s so pretty!  I layered it onto a green card base and pulled colors from it to color miss Kiki.  I decided that it needed a contrasting color though…and I think the blue fit well.

Thanks for stopping by!  Check out the new releases on the ATS blog.

meadow

TGIF!  Today I have another valentine from the C.C. Designs January release.  I know a few little girls who love unicorns so this new image called Meadow was just perfect!

The shades of pink are off a bit in the photo…I had a tough time adjusting the pics.  The unicorn was paper pieced with the same paper as the background.

And here’s a pic of the inside…

That’s it for today.  I hope you have a great weekend!

CAS Valentines

It’s been a few days since I posted but I’ve been busy making samples for the Stampavie booth at CHA.  It won’t be long till the trade show starts and then we can share the fabulous new images!

In the meantime, I made some clean and simple valentines with the cute new images from All That Scraps.  This set is called Funny Valentine.  I made a few for little girls and also a few for some little boys.  Here’s the girl version…

The heart is punched through the cardfront and the verse is on the inside.

And here’s the one I made for the boys…

As you can see, I kept these very simple!  I hope they like them, but let’s face it…little kids are very likely to toss ’em in the trash once Valentine’s Day is over.  LOL.

I hope you had a great weekend!  My Christmas decorations are still up…I really need to think about taking them down.  I just want to enjoy them a little bit longer…
