candle favors and candy buffet

When it comes to making favors, there are so many ideas to choose from!  DD decided that she wanted little candles so we stamped on tealights and placed them in little tins that I had left  from when I was making these ornaments.

These are so easy to make!  Just place a piece of tissue paper between 2 pieces of copy paper and punch it out with a 1 3/8″ circle punch.  (The copy paper aids in punching out the tissue) Then stamp your design onto the circle of tissue paper.  We used the same birds that were used on the invitations.  Then I used a piercer to poke a hole in the center.  Lay the tissue over the candle, pushing the wick through the hole.  Then apply heat with a heat gun and the tissue melts right into the top of the candle.  We finished off the tins with some ribbons and placed their names & date on the bottom.

As part of their favors, we also put together a candy buffet.  That was a lot of fun!  We shopped for glassware and tried to keep the candy in fall colors…mostly orange and brown for the colors of the wedding.

In the jar on the top left, we colored the letters “HE” and “SHE” on the Hershey snack size bars with an orange Sharpie marker.

In the large jar in the back, below, my MIL found white coated pretzels, drizzled with orange and brown…perfect!  And the Lifesavers mints (with the Whirly pop on top) are my new favorite…orange flavored!  I could only find them at CVS.

I like the look of the giant orange gumballs too.

A last minute project was to make a banner to hang over the table…

I also made a sign for the table…

…and decorated some glassine lined bags for the guests to fill…

Those giant lollipops in the photo above were actually a Halloween candy I found…and they SPIN just like a pinwheel!  I bought enough to fill the whole display box so I could take that home too.  lol.  I pulled the styrofoam base out and wrapped it with ribbon.  Here’s what it originally looked like.

And after it was altered…

One little boy was so fun to watch, licking away at his spinning pop!

That’s all for today but check back…still more projects to come!

friends, friends, wonderful friends…

I am blessed to have so many friends through this hobby!  And here’s a few samples that came about from those friendships.

One friend whom I only get to see once a year earned an extra PTI set and gave it to me!  How sweet was that?!  This is my first set from PaperTrey and it gave me the gentle push I needed to order the button set I’ve been eyeing for a long time.  lol.

Here’s the card I made to thank my friend…

And a few days ago some other friends invited me to join them when they got together to try some glass etching.  Ever since I did it on this jar, I have been wanting to etch a 9 x 13 cake pan.  So I made time to join them and they cut the design out on the Cricut for me.  (I still need to learn how to use that thing!)  I chose a font for my name and the bird was on the same cartridge.  I think it may have been Lyrical Letters??  Everything was cut from vinyl to stick onto the pan for a stencil.  The letters needed to be entered and cut out backwards so they show through the bottom in the right order & direction!  I thought it turned out pretty cute!

We are still in the midst of computer woes but I should be back tomorrow with a Stampavie sample.  And I also have a cute C.C. Designs project I can’t wait to share!  Hopefully the computer will cooperate so I can post it soon.

Take care!

a turtle shower

Loooong post today! I have several pics to share of the baby shower I helped with. The mom is decorating the room with turtles so we went right along with the turtle theme! The Pond Life set from C.C. Designs came in handy here.

Remember the onesies I stamped a few weeks back? I also made this one…

…and we hung them all on a line at the shower for decoration…

Then I made some little gift bags for the winners of the baby games (everyone seemed to enjoy playing along!).  These were filled with some Ghirardelli chocolates and flower bulbs.

Next I made some cupcake toppers…

And then I was inspired from a link shared by JulieHRR (to make tiny cookie buttons).  I made mine from fondant instead.  I used a tiny circle cutter to cut them out and then made the holes with a Wilton frosting tip…

Here’s the cupcake tree…it was a group effort.  My SIL baked them, my MIL filled and frosted them, DD rolled the edges in sugar crystals and I put the decorations on.  Not professionally made but definitely made from the heart!  ♥

I decided to also make some peppermint patty favors…and finally got my Cricut out of the box to cut the large flowers and leaves!  The peppermint patties are sandwiched between the turtle toppers and the flowers.

Gotta love those after Easter sales when you need a cute basket to put them in!

This was my card and it was already shared but I thought I’d add it here again with the rest of the pics….
