a Valentine challenge

Today the Challenge Chicks have a new challenge for February!

This month Kelli asked us to make valentines.  So…instead of a card I went with a valentine treat (with chocolate!).   :0)  I even got out my sewing machine!

I used my favorite valentine image from a retired SU! set.  I just think this boy and girl are so sweet!

Inside the heart shaped box are a few ghirardelli chocolates.

I even added some matching paper to the inside…

Directions for the box can be found in this post.

Come play along and show us your valentines on our Facebook page!  Or use the keyword CHXFEB13 if you upload to the SCS gallery.  And be sure to click on the links below to check out what the other Chicks created!

Hope you all are having a nice, relaxing Sunday!  Today I have another card for our Challenge Chicks January challenge- snowmen!  I was also inspired by a few friends to make these cards.  Korin inspired me with a CAS sketch she used and Lydia gave me the itch to create something blue!

I pulled out another one of my retired sets here.  This one is the Cookie Crumbs- Warm Cocoa Wishes.  I tried putting Liquid Applique and a puffy paint pen on these but when I heated them, my marshmallows turned kind-of lumpy and messy.  lol.  As long as it tastes good, right?  😉

Gosh, I love paper piecing.  Just had to piece the mug, scarf, and mittens!  Stay warm!

stamps- Cookie Crumbs- Warm Cocoa Wishes; paper- white, SU! Baja Breeze, Heidi Grace- Frost Blvd/Crystal Snow; ink- Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Baja Breeze; accessories- corner rounder, dimensionals, Copics, Liquid Applique.

    Let it SNOW-MEN!

It’s time for another Challenge Chicks Challenge and this month Jeanne chose the theme of snowmen!  Fun!  I made 2 cards to share today…the first is super easy, a CAS card, and didn’t actually have any stamping involved.

I simply hand cut a rounded top to my card base, then hand cut a nose, hat, and scarf.  I added some faux stitching and two buttons…that’s it!

For my second card, I followed this past week’s tutorial on Splitcoast for a Flip Down Stack Card.  Pictured is the card with the stack folded up and also with the stack after it flipped down.  I used the Paper Smooches Warm Hearts stamp set.  Instead of using a photo turn or magnetic closure, I used sticky-back velcro on the tab.

The hearts and trees were paper pieced.

I used the same snowman for all three frames…just stamped him in different directions…

Now go check out what the other chicks created!

This month I challenged The Chicks to create a Christmas tag (Use keyword CHXDEC12 on SCS).  I ended up making two tags using Tina Wenke’s Winter Collection papers, Spellbinders dies, and some Paper Smooches stamps.  First I used the Nested Mittens…

Next I made a Frosty’s Hat tag with the Reverse Wonky Rectangles die.  Don’t know where I saw this idea but it was perfect!

Now go check out all the other Chicks’ tags!  (and come play along!)
