a simple wedding card

My daughter recently needed a wedding card and I needed to make it the day before the wedding.  Sound familiar?  A clean & simple card was in order…

I had just purchased the retired SU! stamp set, Valentine Defined, to use for her own wedding…so I pulled out the tree image and some markers.  Then finished it off with a little bling.  Quick.  Easy.  Done.

Have a great night!  🙂

another tissue box cover and video tutorial

Last month I shared a snowy tissue box cover that I made with a Stampavie image for a square box of tissues.  (Thanks for your comments…I’m glad you liked it!)  Soon after, I was asked to do a tutorial for SCS with the tissue box, so here’s another sample I came up with.  This one was made for a friend’s daughter’s wedding so I kept it pretty much white on white.  I love that look…so elegant!

I used 2 different embossing folders and added a bunch of pearls.  Just a tiny bit of black helped to make their initials stand out.

Here’s a view of the top.  It’s hard to see, but I added some Stickles to the edge of the die-cut opening and around the punched heart.  I also added Stickles to the initials on the front.

Below is the You Tube video tutorial, but be sure to check out the Splitcoast site for step by step pictures and directions.  You can see the tutorial herein the SCS resources.

another Vera Bradley card

You may remember this card that I made for my friend’s daughter for her bridal shower.  Recently I recycled some more of the Vera Bradley invite to make another card for their wedding day.

My friend saw this beautiful card and loved it, so it became my inspiration.  I have a hard time adding pins to my cards (afraid someone will get poked, I guess) but since this was for such a special occasion and it was not going in the mail I decided it would be perfect.

Be sure to stop by tomorrow…I will have a special post with my second video tutorial.  I made a little something extra for the wedding.  😉

a Vera Bradley bride

Get your sunglasses out!  ’cause it’s a bright one today!  ;^)

On Saturday I attended a bridal shower for my good friend’s daughter.  She fell in love with this Vera Bradley pattern and is using the colors in her wedding.  The bridal shower invite was sent with the same pattern on the invitations so when I received it, I carefully removed the pretty lining from the envelope and recycled it on this card.

I used the bouquet image from my own set, Special Day.  Some stitching and embellishments finished the card.  I tried to let most of the paper shine through and I think the bride was happy with it!

best friends for life

Yay!  It’s almost the weekend again!  And we have had some beautiful weather….a little hot but still nice!

We received a wedding invitation in the mail a few weeks ago with this beautiful orange-y print.  I love it!  So I decided to cut up the envelope (which was lined with the same print) and use the paper to make a wedding card for the couple.  This is a great way to recycle and personalize your card.

I also used my Special Day stamp set.  (BTW…all stamps are 25% off at All That Scraps this week only)

And I used another piece of the envelope on the inside…

Have a FUN and SAFE holiday weekend!  ♥

a promise made & the getaway car!

This summer I needed several wedding cards and here are the two designs I came up with.

I made about 3 or 4 of this first card a few months ago but haven’t posted it yet ’cause I didn’t want one of my readers to see it.  ;0)

a promise made….I love that sentiment!

Here’s a close up of the rings.  They were attached with rolled glue dots.  It’s too hard to read in this picture but “I Love You” is inscribed in the one with the diamond.  It’s so sweet!  Sorry…I tried hard to get a better pic.

And here is a side view so you can see how the layers were popped.

Here’s my second wedding card….it is very similar in colors and papers.

The Getaway Car….

This is such a fun image by Stampavie!  It is called Wedding Squirrels and is from the Tina Wenke collection.

I couldn’t resist using another piece of that same dp when I saw it had the words “The Getaway Car” on it!  How perfect.

The image was colored with Copics and I used chalks on the ground and sky for a softer appearance.

Some pearl stickers in the Prima flowers helped to “dress” this one up.  And I added the EK Success Parisian border along the bottom.  Love that punch!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

EDIT:  I have had several questions about where to purchase the paper and rings.  I bought both of them at my local Ben Franklin store.  I did a quick search and found the paper here and the rings are here (this one is ebay).  I have never purchased from either of these venders before…I just found the links to help in your search.  Good luck and thanks for your comments.  :0)

celebrations

It’s that time of year again for lots of celebrations….graduations, weddings, etc.

Recently I needed two different grad cards and an anniversary card.  And later this summer I’ll need a wedding card or two.

Here’s the anniversary card I made.  It was for a couple who celebrated their 25th.

I used Shimmery White cardstock to make it special, along with Silver and a bit of Soft Sky for contrast.

stamps- SU! Both Way Blossoms, AmyR Love Sentiments; paper- Shimmery White, Silver, Soft Sky; ink- Palette Black, Soft Sky; accessories- SU! Manhattan Flower, Martha Stewart mini-hearts border punch, ribbon, Labels 4 Nestabilities, Silver Sharpie, Cuttlebug Harmony.

And here’s some pics of a little basket I made to hold some wrapped Hershey nuggets.  You can click on the thumbnails to see a larger photo.

The directions for the basket can be found here.  I used the Avery 8160 labels to print their names on and then stamped over the names with some light pink hearts.

For the grad cards, I made the first one for a college grad and used the university colors:

The grad cap was stamped a second time and popped up on dimensionals.  The background and sentiment were heat embossed.  I also made a simple pocket on the inside for a gift card.

stamps- Linograph, Wonderful Words, Stampendous grad cap and diploma scroll; paper- Bravo Burgundy, Summer Sun, Vanilla; ink- Versamark, Palette Black; accessories- EK Success Fleur de Lis punch, clear embossing powder, Copic markers, brads, pop dots, black cording.

My last card today is another graduation card.

This grad cap card holds a gift card as well.  The pattern for this can be found here.  I didn’t use the white piece in the instructions though.  Instead, I lined the inside with some white paper and stamped another rose.  My card was also folded the opposite way and opens from the other side.

I found some gold thread on some old purchased tags and removed a few strands to braid a tassel.

Here’s a pic of the inside.

stamps- Both Way Blossoms; paper- Black, white, Summer Sun; ink- Memento Black; accessories- Cuttlebug Harmony alpha, gold thread, brad, Copic markers.

I hope you have a good day tomorrow and enjoy the weekend!  We have been having showers and thunderstorms off and on.  I can’t seem to find a nice day to hang the laundry out.  :0/

Wedding, Kisses and Hugs, and blog candy winner!

wedding1-diane-zechman.jpg*Scroll down to the bottom of this post for the blog candy winner!*

Sorry for the poor photos here!  I had to take these at night.

Tonight at 10 pm, C.C. Designs will be releasing the January sets!  (Including my Snow Friends set in the post below)  :0)  This first card was made with one of Amy Rysavy’s sets that will be released called “Wedding”.

The dress was stamped a few times and then cut into sections and layers.  Each piece was individually embossed and pieced together.  The roses were stamped, cut out and layered over the dress.  (inspired by Lesa)  And the bottom was punched with the Martha Stewart Doily Lace punch to complement the scalloped ruffles of the dress.  This card is made like Mish’s Tent Topper cards.  I didn’t really go by her measurements though….I just punched the bottom and then cut the length to 7 inches and folded it in half.  The width is 4 1/4.   After the dress was added, I decided to attach the words on a little flag and add some accents with Liquid Pearls.

stamps- Wedding by AmyR Designs; paper- white, dp- Basic Grey Sultry; ink- Memento Black; accessories- Cuttlebug Swiss Dots and Textile, Oval Nestabilities, Copic markers, Martha Stewart Doily Lace punch, ribbon, Liquid Pearls.

kisses-and-hugs1-diane-zechman.jpgThis next card uses the super-cute images from one of the C.C. Designs sets to be released called “Kisses and Hugs”.  I love Bear in his boxers!  And the bunny and piggy are so sweet!

Here I used the Liquid Pearls again to accent the photo corner and then I also used it to “paint” their wings.  When I was coloring these images, it made me a bit hungry.  They reminded me of vanilla, chocolate & strawberry.  LOL!

stamps- Kisses and Hugs by C.C. Designs; paper- Choc. Chip, Pretty in Pink, White, dp- unknown; ink- Memento Black; accessories- Photo Corner punch, Copic markers, Circle Nestabilities, gel pen, Liquid Pearls.

Don’t forget to stop by the ATS forum tonight to chat before the release!

the happy couple

wedding-bears-diane-zechman.jpgToday Christine at All That Scraps is having a Review Preview Friday of her new set Bear Hugs.  This set is just too stinkin’ cute!  Be sure to check out the ATS blog for more info.  Cyndi has a project for you to try and Renee will have some blog candy- an ATS gift certificate!

I really didn’t need a wedding card, but I thought the bears would make a super cute bride and groom!  So I’ll be ready when the next wedding invitation arrives.  😉  I started with the Pink Pirouette card base and layered some white that was embossed with the new Cuttlebug Houndstooth folder.  The bears were cut out with Nestabilities dies and colored with Copic markers.  The flowers are from the C.C. Designs new Scenery set and the word is from the new Sentiment set.  You can check them all out here.  Which is your favorite?

wedding-bears-closeup-diane-zechman.jpgIn this close-up you can see the details of the bears a bit better.  I made the bow tie for the groom with some tiny ribbon.  I don’t think I’ll be doing that again anytime soon!  LOL.  It was fun though.  I had to cut the mini glue dots in half so they were small enough to stick the bow together.

The bride’s veil was made with a bit of sheer wide ribbon which was gathered slightly at the top and stuck down with a mini glue dot.  Then I added the flower from the Scenery set.  If you look closely you can see a bit of bling on her finger (Stickles- love that stuff!).

Have a super fun weekend!
