witching you…

a nice, sunny Saturday!  Actually, this card says “a haunting halloween” on the inside.  But it looks like it’s gonna be another great day!  I sure do not miss the humid temps we had the past few weeks!  It is so nice to turn off the fans and A/C unit and listen to the quiet!

Today is the last day of sneak peeks on the ATS blog…all of the new sets will be available on Monday, Aug. 2!  We are previewing Amy Young’s new Halloween stamps today.  I used the cute witch here along with Christine’s fab new Halloween scene.

life is tweet!

It really is, isn’t it?  Even when things aren’t looking so good, we really have a lot to be thankful for!

I’ll be feeling a bit like this kitty today, though.  I have to take a CPR class again this year and today is my lucky day.  lol.  Don’t get me wrong…I think it is a great thing to know!  I just don’t care much for being “in class”.

This bird and kitty image is from my new set being previewed today at All That Scraps.  It is called For The Birds and you can see more samples from the design team on the ATS blog.  Be sure to check them out.  I saw a sneak of two of them and they are FABULOUS!

I found this birdcage patterned paper in my Basic Grey Porcelain pack and thought it would go well.  Then I pulled some Cameo paper for the cardbase.  I still LOVE the Cameo…one of my faves!

Have a wonderful Wednesday!  (We’re halfway to the weekend!)  :0)

Sarah Kay in the sun

Sarah Kay is gettin’ dirty!  This was made for 2 of the Dare To Get Dirty challenges that are happening over on the Splitcoast site this week.  Be sure to check them out…it’s not too late to join the fun!

It has been way too long since my Sarah Kays got inky!  They’re so fun!  BTW, have you seen the new Stampavie Christmas images that are coming?  Adorable!

sk-sun-diane-zechman.jpg

I drew the sun shape, traced it on my card and cut it out.  Then I stamped the sweet Sarah Kay image on the front.  This one is called Lynette Collecting Her Vegetables.  The circular shape is the cardfront and the back of the card has the “rays”.

Some sponging, doodled stitches, and Stickles finished off the edges.  I was happy with how it turned out, but I wished I would have cut around the Sarah Kay image and popped her up on the front because that way I could have embossed a pattern on the sun.  Next time!  😉

This was made for challenges by melmel and tiffguam.  Thanks, ladies!  (and happy birthday, Tiffany!)

I hope you have a fabulous weekend!  Enjoy the sun!

EDIT…the sun pattern is now available HERE.

fly a kite…or float in the pool

Today I have another card for the Dare To Get Dirty challenges.  This time I used October Afternoon’s Fly A Kite paper with C.C. Designs’ digi image, Pool Party Paula.  A sweet friend gave me this pad of paper as a thank you and I finally used it!  I ♥ it!

Doesn’t the background paper remind you of the pattern on some pool liners?  ;0)

For this card, I played along with the challenge by Julie Warner (justwritedesigns).

I hope you are enjoying YOUR lazy days of summer!

a taffy treasure

Are you playing along with the Dirty girls this week?  I haven’t had as much time this year to join the challenges but I’m trying to participate as much as I can.  It got me to thinking today…it has been 4 years since I was asked to join the dirt pile.  Time sure flies and so much has happened since then!

I knew that I wouldn’t have the time to hostess a challenge this year but I still wanted to participate.  So I was happy that I could be a sample maker for Tracy‘s challenge.  Be sure to check out her project and texasjodylynn‘s too…they are both fabulous!

Here is what I made…

taffy-treasure-diane-zechman.jpg

I started with the Sizzix Suitcase die and then embossed it with a Cuttlebug folder.  I was originally planning to add a girl in a swimsuit to the front and make a beach-y scene.  But she was just a bit larger than I wanted, so I turned to Amy Young’s fab mermaids instead.

Her hair is covered with Stickles and Liquid Pearls were added to her earring and belt.

taffy-treasure-close-diane-zechman.jpg

Salt water taffy was the perfect thing to fill it with, I thought.  But after a few stores, I wasn’t sure I would find any!  If only I had planned ahead, I could have asked my friend, Susan, to bring me a bag home from her vacation at the beach last week.  Then I finally found a small bag at WalMart.  I guess I was just so elated that I didn’t realize till I was home that it was sugar-free.  Oh fudge!  But it actually tastes quite good…who knew?!  And thankfully it has no sucrolose.  We are trying to avoid that and other artificial sweeteners.

I hope you get a chance to play along with Tracy’s challenge…it’s a fun one!  Have a great day!

Designs; paper- Baja Breeze, white; ink- Baja Breeze, Memento Black; accessories- Sizzix Suitcase Bag die, Big Shot, Cuttlebug Japanese Scales folder, Fiskars boundary waters punch, Copics, Liquid Pearls, Stickles, Labels 13 Nestabilities, Crop-A-Dile, eyelet, ball chain, cell phone bling.

flower turtle

Today Christine is having a special digi release at All That Scraps…check it out!  I used the Flower Turtle image here and played along with a couple of the Dare To Get Dirty challenges on Splitcoast.

flower-turtle-diane-zechman.jpg

I played along with the challenges set forth by CraftyCaro, Rainy, and gbedwright for this card.  I could probably stretch it and include flowergal36’s challenge but I’ll try to make another card for that one!  The light pink layer here has an embossed pattern that I created on my Scor-Pal.

Today the contractors will be pouring the concrete for our garage.  So I’m sure I’ll be busy!  But I already have a project done for one of tomorrow’s challenges…I am a sample maker for my friend, Tracy’s challenge.  Be sure to check it out…I ♥ the other 2 samples that were made for it!

I used my own set, Time For Cake, available through All That Scraps and some more fun DCWV papers.  And I colored my crochet thread pink with a Copic marker before adding it to the clear button.

This card is for two challenges by StamperSharon and DeborahLynneS.  Thanks ladies!

dtgd-tweeties-diane-zechman.jpg

This card didn’t end up as I first envisioned it, but I like the end result!  The only thing I am NOT happy with is the coloring.  I started out watercoloring the bird….WHY I did this, I’ll never know!  LOL.  It has been so long since I watercolored and I was getting tired.  Apparently I had the wrong paper, wrong ink, wrong IDEA!  So please don’t look too close at the bird…he he.  He has Copics on top of the original attempt.  sigh.

I hope you come join us in the challenges!  It is always fun!

a mermaid release

Amy Young drew 4 more mermaids for All That Scraps and they are super cute!  They will all be released tonight at 10 pm.

I used the one with a bandana to make this “fin-tabulous” card.

mermaid-1-diane-zechman.jpg

I dug out an old seashell corner punch to use here…remember this punch?

Here’s a side view…I popped up the otter with dimensionals.

I hope you all had a wonderful, safe 4th of July!  We have been busy doing work outside.  We painted my butterfly bench and tore down the long neglected swingset in preparation for a new garage to be built.  DH also moved our hammock to a nice spot in the trees.  Today we need to work on the stones around the pool.  We seem to be so behind this year!  But we took time out yesterday to have a nice family meal for the 4th and everyone watched a movie together.  Later we made s’mores by a campfire.  Great day!

Trendy Trees

I loved this stamp set when it first came out…then I finally purchased it…and never used it.  LOL.

But when I made a few masculine cards recently, it was just what I needed.

trendy-trees-1-diane-zechman.jpg

I just changed out the sentiment and then replaced the brads on the side for some airplane punch outs to suit the RC hobbyists.  I still really love those trees and need to use them again soon!
