Holiday Cards & giveaway!

Good morning! Today I am sharing two projects using the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps Holiday Wreath and Pinecone Background sets. Also used are Christmas Wordfetti and Mini Tags Dies. I have a little giveaway too, so be sure to read to the end!

EDIT- winner of the dies is…

My favorite poinsettias are pink so I made my first card in that color. This is a pretty simple design and was finished off with a few sequins.

A white frame was created with two rectangle dies for my second card, then it was run through an embossing folder. Just a portion of the pinecone image was used for the center and it was matted with gold paper for some shine.

Giveaway– I have an extra set of the Doily Border Dies and Scalloped Border Dies! These are brand new but they are loose…not in the packaging that you normally receive them in. I will choose from one of the comments on this post on my personal blog that are left by 9:00 pm tomorrow night (Sept. 17) to send these to.

Have a great day!

a few recent cards and a sneak peek!

Hello! I am sharing a couple of cards that I recently made PLUS I have a sneak peek of some new stamps and dies that will be available to order in the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps shop tomorrow!

First, I created several cards with the Blooming Anemones stamp set and the Friend Word Die. Here’s two of my favorites. This would be pretty in so many color combinations! I created a reverse mask by die cutting the center of a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 piece of cardstock with a scalloped rectangle shape. The outside “frame” was placed over the front of my card and then I added three colors of ink to each one with dye based inks and blending brushes. When the center was filled in with color, I removed my mask and stamped the flower image with black ink. Then I layered two Friend die cuts and added it to the front and finished with a few sequins.

My next card was created with the Birds & Blooms stamp set. I needed a few sympathy cards and I almost always lean toward blues, greens, and purples. I skipped the purple here and kept the card CAS.

Are you ready for a sneak peek? Be sure to check out What’s NEW tomorrow! In the meantime, I’ll share a card and a tag I made. There’s FIVE products used here from the new release! 🙂

EDIT: The SNSS products used here are Berry Branch Background, Delightfully Delicate Background, Christmas Wordfetti, Scallop Border Dies, Doily Border Dies, Mini Tags Dies, and Large Snowflakes Dies.

Have a great day!

Christmas in July sale!

Hello! There’s a Christmas in July SALE going on in the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps shop! There’s 25% off all Christmas and Winter stamp sets and digital images until tomorrow, July 26. I have a few cards to share using some of my favorite Christmas sets… Christmas Pine and Old-Fashioned Christmas. First, I used a bit of masking and ink blending to create a CAS card.

Next, I used the pine images for a simple swag with a tag and a bit of gold washi tape strip.

For my last card, I stamped a few branches around the edges. Then I stamped the main image in red and embossed it to give it a little texture. I had an idea to punch some gold circles with a regular hole punch and add them to the card for a some-what bokah feel. Then I added a gold punched bow.

Have a great day!

recent cards

Good morning! Today I have a bunch of various cards to share. The first one is a 6×6 recipe card that I made for a swap with friends this week. I made this delicious cake for the first time this year and when I got the SU! Touch of Ink stamp set, I knew it would be perfect for the recipe card.

I searched for a hummingbird font to type the title. The patterned paper strip is from an old pack by Kaisercraft called Utopia. The hummingbird was inked with markers and then stamped. Colors used: SU! Summer Sun, Green Galore, Taken With Teal, Creamy Caramel, Berry Burst, Soft Seafoam, and Memento Tuxedo Black. I also used Gina Marie Stitched Circles and foam dimensionals. Directions are on the back…

So yummy!

The next two are Christmas cards and this one I actually cased and sent to a few friends in December. I am thinking about making a few more for next Christmas! SU! Nature’s Beauty, Subtle embossing folder, tag and leaf punches, plus Gina Marie Stitched Rectangles.

Lots of cuteness in the next one… Penny Black Snowy & dies, Sweet ‘n Sassy Christmas Wordfetti, Dee’s Distinctively- Large Snow Covered Stacker Tree, MFT Die-Namics Stitched Basic Edges 2, Kars Snowflake embossing folder. Copics- YR07, E93, C-0, G00, G02, G05.

I love how stamping allows us to customize cards for the recipient’s likes and interests. This was for a Dino loving girl who likes blue & purple. SU! Dino Days & Dies, Dinoroar dsp, Cuttlebug Red Tag Sale dies for the number. Colors- Old Olive, Pool Party, Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape, Soft Suede, Island Indigo.

I made a few quick birthday cards with the SU! Pretty Perennials set & dies but I mailed several before taking a photo. This one also has a sentiment from Sweet ‘n Sassy Bold Birthdays.

Next, I used the SU! Pretty Perennials set again with some older dsp to make a Sliding Lock Fold Card. I used Tangerine Tango, Pool Party, Island Indigo, and Sycamore Street dsp. Punches- 1 1/4 and 1 1/2 circle, Classic Label, and Elegant Butterfly.

The butterfly circle slides to the left to open the card.

The next two cards use the SU! Sweet Strawberry set and Strawberry Builder punch. I love this set. The chocolate wrapped “strawberries” are chocolate hearts…a fun idea that I cased. I also used the SU! Basket Weave and Tasteful Textile embossing folders. Inks- Poppy Parade, Granny Apple Green, and Garden Green.

My last cards today were from a previous Paper Pumpkin kit for some milestone birthday cards.

Have a great weekend!

recent journaling

Hello! Today I have a few recent bible journaling pages to share. I don’t always share them but with all that’s going on in the world today, I really needed to dig back in and hopefully these pages will brighten your day a bit too.

34 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
    his love endures forever.
35 Cry out, “Save us, God our Savior;
gather us and deliver us from the nations,
that we may give thanks to your holy name,
    and glory in your praise.”
36 Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel,
    from everlasting to everlasting.

Then all the people said “Amen” and “Praise the Lord.”

I started this Thanksgiving page at the holiday but never got around to water-coloring it until recently. I think I was a bit intimidated! lol. It wasn’t difficult after all and was really a lot of fun. I do love some cherry pie!  I followed this tutorial by Scribbling Grace with her free printable to create the page and added a red tassel to a paperclip for a tab. I used Kuretake watercolors and the SNSS With Love Alpha.

Ezekiel 11:19

19 I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.

My Christmas page wasn’t done on a Christmas verse in the bible but rather was based on the Grinch having a change of heart and the true meaning of Christmas. Our hearts are truly transformed by the Good News of Christ’s life, death, and resurrection. And no matter who we are or what we have done, there is hope for our future.

I used the Grinch stamp set by Gina Marie Designs and hand drew his head, body, and arms. The ornament was stamped again onto white cardstock. I wrote the words on it and colored, cut & layered it on. The popcorn garland is from SNSS Deck the Halls and the sleigh/present is from Warmth of Christmas. I colored with Inktense pencils.

But, as it is written,

“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love him”

Yesterday my friend, Lou Ann, shared a memory on Facebook of me “trying to steal” her dessert at one of our giggler dinners. LOL. Our large group of friends all miss getting together for fun crafty days and our monthly dinners so much! It reminded me of this page that I’ve been wanting to do so I finally got it done. I was also inspired by Stephanie Gammon’s page and the following story that you’ve most likely heard:

I found a fork image online, turned and cropped it, and printed it onto a clear sticker sheet. All images were stamped with SU! Going Gray ink and the words with Versafine Black. The cake is from SNSS Make A Wish and the flowers are from Mason Jar Bouquet. I also sponged the gray ink with the Tim Holtz Doily Stencil. The words were done with SNSS Sunshine Girl Alpha, With Love Alpha, Teeny Alpha, and Inspirational Word Art 2. The tiny fork on the tab is from Sizzix Festive Treats dies.

Be not quick in your spirit to become angry,
for anger lodges in the heart of fools.

My last page was created because of all the negative political posts lately that are getting many of us down. I used the Art Impressions Sloth-some Set and the SNSS Marker Alpha and Art Deco Alpha. The hat and balloon on the hanging sloth were masked off. The stencil is TCW Gabrielle Pollacco Mini Moving Vines. The grass is from SNSS Happy Camper. Images were colored with Inktense pencils.

Thanks for reading this far and have a great weekend!

big cups

Good morning! I hope you are having a good start to the new year! Today I am sharing two projects using the new Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps set called I Like Big Cups. It’s a fun and very versatile set for all your coffee/tea/cocoa lovers!

This past year I sadly fell short in making Christmas cards. I always start in January and hope to make some each month but usually let it drop at some point until later in the year. I’m hoping to stick with it better this year! To get started, I paired a sentiment from Christmas Gnomes with the big to-go cup (paper-pieced of course!). The cup cards are perfect to include a gift card for a local coffee or donut shop.

My second card was made with a simple fold to tuck one of those gift cards into. I scored a 4 1/4 x 11 piece of cardstock @ 3 1/2 and 7 3/4. Then I trimmed a little off and punched the edge to get the size of pocket I wanted. And yes, I paper pieced another cup…my fave technique! Here I used another new set for the sentiment, Coffee Talk 2.

The sides of the pocket could be adhered with glue or double sided tape but I simply used two tiny staples.

Have a great day!

stamps- Sweet ‘n Sassy I Like Big Cups, Christmas Gnomes, and Coffee Talk 2; paper- white, vanilla, SU! Baja Breeze, Cherry Cobbler, Baked Brown Sugar, MME- Merry Little Christmas, and Jillibean Soup- Christmas Eve Chowder; ink- Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler; accessories- MISTI, Scor-Pal, foam tape, SU! Winter Wonder embossing folder, Martha Stewart Looped Snowflake and Cornice Edge punches, glitter enamel dots, Gina Marie Scalloped Stitched Circles, mini stapler, heart enamel sticker.

2020 wrap up

Hello! Popping in with a second post to wrap up 2020. Some of these are recent projects and some I just never got around to sharing.

This masculine birthday card uses SU! Best Catch and Catch of the Day Thinlits, Old Olive paper and Gina Marie Stitched Rectangle dies.

Next is a wintery card with one of the Anita Jeram kittens (Kittens and Mittens) from Colorado Craft Company. Anita Jeram is the illustrator of the children’s book, Guess How Much I Love you. Her designs are wonderful! The papers are MME- Merry Little Christmas.

The Fa la la framed art was made for a friend in our stamping group’s gift exchange. I started with a 7 Gypsies Shadow Box Tray. Dies: Spellbinders FaLaLa and Santa’s Parade (birds), Sizzix Endless Love Alpha, and Marianne Design tree- LR0136. Background paper: The Paper Studio- Silver Foiled Snowflake. The fence is a Martha Stewart Halloween punch with the bats removed and the wreath is a brad. The beaded snowflake is an old Jolee’s sticker and I added some Aleene’s True Snow around the tiny tree.

I was asked to make a name banner for a newborn baby with pink, gold, and butterflies. Here’s what I came up with. I used Momenta Banner and Alpha dies, Gina Marie Scalloped Stitched Circles, Sizzix Bold Flora dies, and an SU! Butterfly punch.

SU! Love of Leaves fall thank you card in non-traditional colors!

A bible journaling page from August in Pop Art style. The printables were created by Diane Noble.

I made a bunch of Rae Dunn style mugs but only got two finished into tags. I guess I have a good start for next year. lol. These were inspired by some I saw on the internet. I typed and printed a skinny font. The tag and mug dies are MFT. The accent images are from Sizzix Festive Treats dies.

They’re so cute on a package!

Next, I have two more fall projects. The first one is with a vintage Rubber Stampede Halloween Snoopy stamp and some old Cuttlebug dies.

And last is a CAS masculine thank you card. I used Gina Marie Chevron BKGD cutting plate, Altenew Bold Thanks, and Prima Forest Leaves.

Have a great week!

winter gnomes side fold & atc coin

Hello! Can you believe the end is in sight for this difficult year? Today I have two projects using the Sweet ‘n Sassy Stamps set called Winter Gnomes. On the Side Fold card below I also used Christmas Gnomes.

I participated in an ATC Coin swap a bit ago. Here I also used Encouraging Peonies. I watercolored a background, die cut the circles, and then stamped. The little punched hearts were popped with foam tape.

Have a great day!

stamps- Sweet ‘n Sassy Winter Gnomes, Christmas Gnomes, and Encouraging Peonies; paper- white, black, watercolor, SU! Real Red, Cool Caribbean, The Paper Studio- be Jeweled; ink- Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Highland Heather; accessories- MISTI, foam tape, SU! heart punch, Copics, twine, EK Success snowflake punch, Stickles, Jane Davenport Bright Watercolor Set, Gina Marie Stitched Circles.

thrill of hope ornament

I’ve had this clear plastic fillable photo ornament that I picked up at Michael’s for a few years and finally put it to use! They can be filled with a photo or the center piece can be removed to fill it with 3-D items. I decided to keep the center piece and attach 2 stamped circles to it, then add a little Martha Stewart Snow Glitter from my stash.

I loved the trees from Thrill of Hope stamped in red on these cards and I decorate my tree in red, sooo….

The inks I used are Memento Tuxedo Black and SU! Real Red and Smoky Slate. I used a Spellbinders Small circle die.

Side view…

Have a wonderful Sunday and stay warm!

mish mash 2

Just popping in with a variety of recent projects… a banner, treats, and cards.

Our granddaughter turned one and I was long overdue in making her a name banner! I picked up the string of pompoms somewhere (Target dollar spot??) a long time ago and saved it for this purpose. All I had to do was make the letter banners and slide the pompoms to place.

I used the Altenew Bitty Bloom 3D and Bold Alphabet dies along with Momenta Banner and Intricate Nested Shapes dies. Papers used: white, gray, SU! Blushing Bride, Strawberry Slush, Raspberry Ripple, Pear Pizzazz, and MME- Heirloom papers.

I scored and folded the tops of the banners to allow for the thickness of the string. Some Scor-Tape secured them after they were placed over the string.

I also made a pile of Halloween treats, pretty much following the directions in the SU! Paper Pumpkin kit. Lots of pieces were leftover for future projects.

The layout of this card was copied from our demonstrator friend, who CASED this card by Cindy Elam. The rose gold leaves here were cut with Lawn Fawn dies and are quite pretty in person.

The last two cards were made with Stamptember sets from Simon Says Stamp. The first set is by Altenew, called Framed Friendship, and I used the same sketch that I used on a previous card.

The second Stamptember set I used is Tim Holtz’ Snarky Christmas Cats. The red plaid paper is a scrap that matches the white plaid. I simply matched it up and layered it on.

Thanks for looking! 🙂
